Aleya & Dan

I love a good registry office wedding. Something about dressing up and heading to a plain old government building for a wedding is like a secret kind of joy. Today’s couple finished their registry office ceremony up with an intimate restaurant reception, all captured by Earthbound Images.

Aleya tells, “We initially met through social media and after talking for a couple of months we met up on a night out in the city. I was standing outside of a kebab shop and I saw him walking towards me, even from a distance I knew it was him, the butterflies set in and I took a sigh of relief at how gorgeous he was. We had many cute and romantic dates from then and eight years later we are still inseparable.”

The bride and groom met before their ceremony, Aleya remembering, “Our day was very smooth and had no hiccups at all but I did have a very reassuring moment with a stranger as I was on my way up the escalator to meet Daniel, a man was coming down and he gave me a smile and a nod suggesting Daniel was at the top waiting for me (that definitely calmed my nerves!).”

For her wedding day look, Aleya paired a lace skirt from Carla Zampatti with a white top from Forever New and pale blue shoes from Zu Shoes. The groom chose a suit from YD.

Aleya and Dan married at the Perth Registry Office, noting, “We decided on a registry office ceremony because we wanted it to be as less fuss as possible, I wasn’t a fan of walking down the aisle and we just really wanted to be able to say our personally written vows in front of family and close friends and be on our way. We also took into consideration our 2yr old son and what would be a safe and easy venue for him to roam about in. Oh and our views were amazing!”

Aleya notes, “Our wedding was intimate, family orientated and relaxed, it really suited us perfectly.”

“By chance, our reception was nearby to Harold Boas Gardens which our photographer Alanna suggested we do some of our photos at, this worked out great as this is where my parents were married so we had photos taken next to the same tree/setting as them.

My shoes were my main ‘something blue’ but I had secret “I Do”diamonte stickers on the bottom which Alanna noticed and they made for some really cute photos, that is also how we got our most favourite photo in front of the coloured wall after Daniel suggested he lift me up so Alanna could photograph the bottom of my shoes.”

Of their photographer, Aleya remarks, “Alanna from Earthbound Images was all we could have hoped for (and more!). She really captured us in the most natural and perfect way. We didn’t really want too many posed photos as that’s not our style, we wanted our photos to be “in the moment”. Our first meeting was casual and she had photographed a registry wedding before which was absolutely stunning, once I had stalked her website and blog over many late nights and gotten lost in all her beautiful images we knew she was the one for us!”

Table 78 hosted the reception, the bride noting, “Our reception was at Table 78 in West Perth. This restaurant is beautiful in its own right and didn’t need much dressing up. The history and rustic feel was perfect for our style. The wedding planner Ashala was so easy to deal with, she let us have free roam of whatever we wanted to do and made everything so smooth. She welcomed our ideas with open arms which was refreshing!”

“I was basically a DIY queen for our wedding, I knew what I wanted and how I wanted things to look so I had to make it all. I’d say our theme/colour scheme was hessian and white lace so I really carried that through as much as possible. I made the table runners out of doilies given to us from both of our families, I loved the history of that, doilies that our great grandmothers used them during morning tea with their husbands. The vases on the tables were wrapped in hessian, lace and ribbon. The glass jars had a ribbon bow with crystals and tea lights in them.”

“We were planning on having a first dance to a Thousand Years by Christina Perri but we were having so much fun and got caught up in the evening, time got away from us!”

“The colourful flowers on our cake table and guest book table were from my mother in law’s garden and the ivory/peachy roses on the other tables were from our local supermarket. Our favours I packaged in little netted bags with ribbon and thank you tags as I didn’t like the original packaging. I also made the invitations in the same theme. The fairy lights were borrowed from a previous bride of the restaurant. Our placecards were purchased from Ebay and I hand wrote the names on. We wanted to prove to ourselves that a beautiful wedding didn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.”

“We had wooden initials of our names, son’s name and surname hanging in the trees, that we painted and sanded.”
