Lisa & James

There is a lot to love about the feeling today’s family filled Whale Beach wedding evokes. This Tuesday celebration was all about family – most importantly the bride and groom’s two children. The newlyweds planned their day around their little ones – a short ceremony, followed by a lunch time celebration, dancing and plenty of champagne! The couple chose Infinity Photography to capture their day.

On how they met, Lisa tells, “We met through work – rather boring really, ha! James sits on the board of my (now ex) work.”

Lisa and James got ready together on the morning of their wedding, Lisa noting, “We hired a luxurious beach front home in Whale Beach for the week, so the morning of the wedding we had our family come have champagne and nibbles prior to the ceremony. My parents came and helped dress the children, it was so special.”

Lisa and James’ daughter and niece wore fluffy dresses from Tutu De Monde, their baby boy was dressed in Burberry and Gucci.

Lisa chose Johanna Johnson to make her gown, explaining, “Johanna Johnson made my outfit, I had a custom made bodice with a large silk skirt. The skirt was a champagne colour, and the bodice was ivory. Having something made by Johanna is the most heavenly experience – they offer impeccable service and deliver an outstanding product.  Having my daughter help me get dressed, and undressed at the end of the day is something I will never forget.”

Of their photographer, Lisa tells, “I would say that Infinity did a magnificent job of capturing the true essence of our day! We adore our photos so much and will treasure them forever, having our children in our wedding photos is something that I hold so close to my heart. Infinity Photography took the most exquisite photos of the children – candid, natural and beautiful.”

Moby Dicks Whale Beach

Lisa and James chose Moby Dicks Whale Beach  for their wedding, Lisa noting, “Moby Dicks is a stunning venue – a mix of laid back beach culture with chic interiors and lovely food. As the venue had recently been renovated we were pleased so have our guests here, as no one had been there before. As you walk into the room, it is simply breathtaking – the stunning simplicity of the room layout, abundant with flowers – and an uninterrupted view of Whale Beach.”

Libby Clouston  officiated the ceremony, Lisa remembering “Our ceremony was ultra short and punchy! We were mindful of our two children sitting through a long ceremony. We had a lovely celebrant who married us in about 10 minutes, this was followed by lots of champagne and delicious canapés.”

“The theme of the wedding was family. We were lucky enough to have a room filled with our nearest and dearest – it was a very intimate mid-week lunchtime wedding. Our venue was filled to the brim with gorgeous flowers, which made it feel so romantic and sweet.”

Lisa tells, “I will never forget sharing our first meal as husband and wife, sitting opposite my 86 year old Grandma, the last of my living Grandparents. Having a mid-week lunchtime wedding felt so luxurious and quite cheeky, too!”

Lisa notes, “The whole day was just blissful. When I look back and think of the day, I think it was just the most perfect day where we shared our first meal as husband and wife with the dearest people in our lives. We were back home by 6pm, children in bed at 7pm, and James and I sat up eating antipasto and ice-cream, talking about our day!”

Of the dancing Lisa recalls, “Our day was the “anti-wedding” – we had no traditional first dance. Instead the four of us (James, Thomas, Soraya and myself) danced the first song together. We had a 1940’s style band ( Greg Poppleton & The Bakelite Broadcasters ) playing and to be honest I was so swept away in the moment I have no idea what they sung when we danced!”
