Tell us about you and your business/blog?

I’m married to a gorgeous husband and the mum to a very cheeky two-year old darling. I’ve recently ventured into the blogging world with a wedding blog called Ivory Tribe.  Ivory Tribe is an online haven dedicated to love and our fabulous Tribe, some of the most admired and desired wedding suppliers Victoria has to offer. Having recently launched in March, we are excited about offering brides and grooms some beautiful inspiration as well as education about the planning process with a trusted team of suppliers that can bring their wedding day to life. I am also a wedding celebrant – so I’m pretty lucky to be surrounded by so much love.

Tell us about your wedding?

I was married in early 2011 at my family’s gorgeous property in Bannockburn. My talented Dad, who was a stonemason, built our bluestone home and it meant a lot to me to be able to be married there.  My husband and I were married on the front door step and then moved to the backyard for the party of a lifetime. My day was a very rustic affair.  Mainly because we are not very creative in my family when it comes to styling, so anything that looked a bit out of place or not quite perfect we were able to say ‘oh it’s a rustic theme’. We feasted on tapas made by my cousins, then paella for main and my Mum made a gorgeous cake for dessert.  The cake sunk in the middle on the day of the wedding, but we couldn’t have cared less because it was made with love and a lot of laughter – a little rustic touch! We hit the dance floor for hours under the stars.

What was your most memorable moment (or moments!)?

Oh goodness, so many funny and magical moments! A very funny moment was when I was trying to make a very grand entrance to my ceremony. I was slightly weepy before the ceremony, feeling a little emotional and overwhelmed about the day.  My Dad and I made our way around the side of the house so the guests to take their first glimpse of me, when a massive gust of wind picked up my veil and it flew right out of my hair and into a lavender bush – and then into our guests! What is a girl to do except double over with laughter – and in all honesty it was the best thing that happened to me. I relaxed instantly and just went back to my normal self.

I loved seeing my husband for the first time too. A moment of pure happiness and bliss.

If you could change one thing, what would it be?

Can I say nothing?  I still love my wedding day, and I think I always will.  It totally encompassed exactly what my husband and I are about.  We are pretty low-key – the only things that were really important to us were having a gathering in a place that we love, with our favourite people, enjoying good food and wine and dancing into the night.  Luckily for us, we got all of that, plus more. That’s not to say that everything was perfect – a lot of things did not go to plan – but who cares when you’re surrounded by the people you love, marrying the love of your life!

Who were your favourite vendors?

I must make special mention of our celebrant Dallas Verfurth. She was a family friend who created the sweetest ceremony for my husband and me that had our guests laughing and crying at the same time.  At that time I was awaiting my registration to become a celebrant myself, and she further inspired me to ensure that I was able to create for couples exactly what she created for me.
