Choosing a videographer to document your wedding day can be an intimidating process, but it’s no wonder so many brides choose to work with C2 Films. This week on “Behind The Door With…”, I visited a new first floor creative space in South Yarra and learned that there is “more than a mobile number”, as owner Marcus Theodor likes to say, behind this business. C2 Films are over a decade old and use a crafted, cinematic approach to capture the meaningful moments that make up a wedding day. From those first family hugs getting ready to the speeches and vibe on the dancefloor, these guys don’t miss a thing and are famous for injecting the feel and magic of the day onto film.

Previously in South Melbourne, Marcus and his team have just made the move to glamorous South Yarra and are already feeling very at home in their new space. Located on the first floor of a grand Victorian style shop front, C2 share the space with Blumenthal Photography and A Lavish Affair Wedding Planners. “We started working with Blumenthal Photography in our previous space” says Marcus. “We work really well together and it’s fantastic to now also be sharing with A Lavish Affair. The building has been renovated to include a large open plan style office and workspace for the three businesses as well as several meeting rooms and beautiful balconies.

Marcus tells me that the space was last used as an editing room for TV show “The Block” and featured lots of fluoro yellow walls and electronic mess. How different it looks now with modern exposed light bulbs, plush sofas, timber floorboards and chandeliers adding a real sense of modern grandeur to the space. Of course with photographers and wedding stylists in house there is beautiful styling and elegant images on the walls too.

As with any old building there were challenges the team faced with the electricity and connecting up wifi that is so essential to a business like C2. Parking can also be tricky but Marcus says the new location is worth it as many of C2’s clients love the location and find it easy to get to.  There’s also a great cafe across the road, Cafe Gaia, which Marcus describes as having “real punch in the face coffee” which I’m sure is essential to the many hours he and his team spend editing wedding films.

For C2 the new space is so important at conveying to clients that they are an experienced and also established business. Marcus tells me that clients get really excited about the space and that they encourage all there couples to come in at least once so that they can see C2 are more than their website. With three wedding businesses in house there are also plans for some industry nights ahead, which I’m sure will be very popular!

I love to talk shop with other business owners (particularly over some chocolate cake!) and am the first to try and have a sticky beak behind the scenes of any event. My free time is spent ‘investigating’ new cafes, stores and events.
