Sharni & James
I do love a classic style wedding day and when Sharni and James chose a classic Customs House wedding for their big day, the traditional beauty of it all came together for such a sense of occasion. Studio Sixty Photography was there to capture their day.
Sharni and James, who met online via RSVP wanted a day that was, “Elegant, classic and fun!”. white + white weddings and events planned and executed the day, the bride remarking, “Danielle and her team from White + White wedding planning were exceptional – she really did make the entire process seamless and smooth.”
The couple chose The Little Peach Co to design classic letterpress wedding invitations with metallic gold ink.
James wore his own Hugo Boss suit.
The Powder Room styled the bride and bridesmaid’s hair and makeup for the day.
Sharni found her gown at White Lily Couture , noting, “It was a fairly classic fitted style, with a slight fishtail line at the bottom in an off white ivory. It was actually the first dress I tried on, it fit perfectly, which was a relief, as I didn’t have enough time to have something made. It was a surreal feeling and I’m so glad I shared it with my Mum – I think it was a pretty big moment for her – we both just kept smiling and laughing, it was a great experience!”
Sharni and James chose Latrobe Chapel for their wedding day, loving the pretty feel to the church.
Sharni walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon In D.
“We chose a more relaxed and fun ceremony, we wanted it to be fairly light-hearted and representative of us – there were even a few jokes about the fact that we met online, in there.”
Of their photographer, Sharni remembers, “Jason is amazingly talented and an all round great guy – we really didn’t want staged or contrived photo scenes and Jason was able to make us feel super relaxed in order to capture some wonderfully candid moments that we will treasure forever.”
Cakes Actually created somewhat of a surprise cake for the newlyweds, James explains. “I really wanted a hotdog stand, which proved to be a hit by the end of the night! Probably my favourite though was the cake, it was a three tiered cake, mostly in traditional white with the the back quarter done in Batman – during the cake cutting we did the big reveal and everyone got a good laugh out of it.”
G&M Djs was not only the DJ. but also the MC for the night, the newlyweds remembering, “The whole night we had family and friends asking us how long we’d known Glen, they couldn’t believe he was a professional MC, he made it so personal and did an excellent job of relaying our stories.”
Of their first dance, Sharni remembers, “James actually suggested the Qantas ad song “Feels Like Home To Me”. It fit perfectly because when he proposed on his grandparent’s farm he spoke about how whenever he thought of home, he thought of the farm and now whenever he thinks of home he thinks of me – and we needed something slow enough that we could do our awkward shuffle to.”
