At Lovestruck Invitations, we are asked by so many brides-to-be whether a Save The Date card is required to be sent, so here are our thoughts!

If you are having a destination wedding, absolutely! You want to give your family and friends as much time as possible to plan their attendance. In particular, overseas weddings take a lot of planning so as soon as the date is known and the location, it is wise to pass this information on so guests can look in to their own travel plans.

If you are super excited about your wedding and want to share the excitement, absolutely! Now you know the date, this is the start of the wedding journey and if your budget permits, share the love! Receiving this card lets your family and friends know they have made it on to the invite list!

If your invitations are already ordered and on their way, probably not. The Save The Date card is a placeholder for the invitation to be sent later.

If your wedding is going to take place within a short timeframe, probably not. The invitation itself will be enough in this situation.

If you don’t know your colour theme yet, absolutely! The Save The Date card doesn’t need to match your wedding invitation but make it personal  – include a photo of your engagement ring, a photo of the two of you or just details of the proposal to add a nice touch.

The Save The Date card is a simple gesture but shares the love and excitement of your impending wedding. Let your family and friends know when the big day is and there’s no time like the present to get started. Congratulations!
