I love the idea of a wedding at Melbourne’s Luna Park and this week for “Behind The Door With…” I was lucky enough to have a private tour of the famous theme park! I met Penny and Michelle who make up part of the special events team and they were kind enough to take me through the park from a bride’s perspective.

The first thing I notice is of course the iconic entry or “Big Mouth” as it is sometimes called. Penny tells me that many couples have their wedding photos taken in front of the entrance and I can see how it would add a sense of fun and excitement to visit the park on your special day. “The vintage carousel is particularly popular for photos,” says Penny. “Or newlyweds sharing some fairy floss makes a great shot too!”

I’m excited to see two new wedding venues that Luna Park have just added, The Moon Deck and The Stardust Room. The Stardust Room is a beautiful modern, blank canvas with views of the park which look amazing at night! There’s also a perfect dance floor sized outdoor covered deck and bar. Upstairs is The Moon Deck which must have one of the best views in Melbourne, St Kilda beach on one side and the park on the other. How perfect it would be to have a wedding ceremony on the deck and your reception in The Stardust room below.

It wouldn’t be a visit to Luna Park without a peek into the giant Luna Palace which has a more classic, vintage style and can seat up to 250 people. I love the big bay windows and high ceilings which Michelle tells me look fantastic with lanterns or even umbrellas hung from them. This space would look so fun styled up with colored furniture for a fun wedding.

Probably the best thing about having a wedding at Luna Park is all the options available to make your day truly unique. Guests can ride the roller coaster and then enjoy some drinks in the private garden terrace or you could hold your hen’s party in a vintage tram! The events team can even organize performers such as jugglers, stilt walkers and acrobats to greet your guests. It would be a wedding like no other!
