Happy Monday Dotties! What a funny week we have ahead, I’m currently in Fiji, exploring a fabulous honeymoon property (follow me on Instagram) and getting a dose of Sunshine. I am very well set for the week ahead!

Australia Day is upon us where we celebrate what it is to be Australian with barbeques in the summer sun, cricket in the backyard and ice cold beer and lamingtons. Take a break and some time out while we highlight and show off the members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory.  We have Styling and Hire, we have Jewellery, we have Photobooth Hire, we even have Wedding Planners and Venues! Our Directory is filled with many categories of vendors all of whom would like to assist you with your wedding day.

Check out Ms Polka Dot’s Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!

It seems particularly appropriate on this Australia Day weekend, to welcome Florent Vidal Photography to Vendor of the Week. A Frenchman who has made his home in Australia, he embraces both his French heritage and Australian culture. He has made photography his profession and his enjoyment of his craft shines through in his images. As he says, “To me it is not only about producing beautiful wedding photos; of course, that goes without saying. But importantly, I want to give my clients photographs that have meaning. I would like my clients to look at their wedding photos years from now and still remember something specific about the wedding day.”

We asked Florent of Florent Vidal Photography five questions in five minutes:

What is your favourite after five drink?

That will be more after 7pm in my case… I just celebrated my 10 years in Australia but I still live like in the South of France. So, dinner is at 9pm and ‘aperitif’ at 7pm.
I enjoy my wines so, it will have to be a glass of Pouilly Fumé or maybe a nice Tassie Riesling.

Your favourite weekend getaway?

I would have normally picked a weekend in a villa on a beautiful calm water beach like Jervis Bay for example. Playing on the beach with my two daughters Alessandra (3 years) and Camille (5 months) and go snorkeling with Alessandra on my back to try to spot a turtle, a Wobbegong or a Bull ray. But at the moment, with the recent birth of Camille, I’m craving for a romantic weekend away with Angel, my wife. Something about relaxation, fine food and wine.

Favourite restaurant?

It’s pretty much impossible to choose! I love Altitude on the last floor of Sydney’s Shangri-La for the amazing view (we did our engagement party there). There are two places that I’m looking forward to go back for the quality of the food: Courgette in Canberra and l’Auberge de la Truffe in the South West of France.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

A triple espresso with some fresh croissants that I dip in the coffee, mmmm!!!

Your favourite wedding story?

It was the most beautiful wedding ever! It took place on a tiny uninhabited island in Palawan (Philippines). There were only 40 guests that travelled from everywhere around the world to meet the couple on the little tropical island. There was no microphone and so, everyone stayed very close to the couple to listen to the ceremony. The groom, a guy that usually don’t show too much emotion started crying as soon as the bride walked down the aisle (marked by coconuts on the white sand). He was unable to say his vows, the bride started crying, too and all the guests joined in tears as the ceremony was going on. At the end, even the celebrant was in tears. It was the most emotional I have ever felt at a wedding. Oh and… I was the groom…
