One of the main trends that has changed over the last two years is for hair to be more carefree, but still with staying power to last the distance. It is much softer now and quite often worn down, with pieces pinned back or braided.

In the past, hair was more controlled, mostly up and sprayed so nothing moved! Brides seem more relaxed now – and as fashion changes so do hair trends.

Bohemian themed weddings were and still are huge as are country destination weddings, with fields of flowers or grass as backdrops. But the interesting thing I have found is as hair becomes more free, makeup has become heavier. Colours still lean to natural for eyes, but are bolder and stronger with shimmers and liner and false lashes for the whole bridal party.

I also almost always airbrush now, as it gives a better finish, and is longer wearing for a wedding. Airbrushing gives ten hours of wear and is much more waterproof than traditional makeup, so great in hot weather! Bright, bolder lip colour is also strong this Summer and seems to be following through to Autumn and Winter looks. Orange reds and bright pinks are favourites with brides, which we wouldn’t have seen two years ago.
