This week for ‘Behind The Door With’ I was super excited to chat with Roberta Moberg who runs not one but two creative wedding businesses! I love the idea of vendors incorporating different wedding elements together which complement each other and I’m sure brides love it too!

Roberta has a talent and love for flowers and has been running her floristry business, Green and Bloom, for eight years now. Specialising in special occasions, Green and Bloom are all about fresh Australian grown blooms as well as a focus on design and quality. Roberta runs the studio from her own classic Queenslander home and is lucky enough to have a refrigeration mechanic as a husband so you know her flower fridges are in good hands!

“Running the business from home suits me best as a working mum” Roberta tells me. “I can do a flower run in the morning and be back in time to take the kids to school.” Meetings take place at the client’s chosen wedding venue which works well for Roberta as she can talk through which flowers and designs might work best in the space.

Roberta tells me that her focus is on the quality of her work, so Green and Bloom don’t compromise when it comes to flowers and price. “I limit the number of weddings I take per year”, says Roberta, “because it’s important to me that they are the most beautiful and best they can be.” It was after this change was made that got Roberta thinking about her second business, which has more of a DIY idea for couples that want to do their own flowers.

Prop it Pretty is almost two years old and complements Green and Bloom perfectly.  The range of hire pieces includes beautiful vases and vintage flower vessels as well as props, signage, crockery and furniture. The website is designed so that couples can pick and choose special pieces for their big day and there are lots of beautiful pictures so they can get a feel for how it might look. Having such a great website also means that Roberta doesn’t really need to show couples the pieces in person and she can keep some on hand in her studio and some in a warehouse.

I really love that Roberta’s businesses can work both for DIY couples on a budget and also those that have a bit more to spend. She certainly is one clever business owner!

Ms Chinoiserie Says: Such a clever lady indeed; the ability to be able to cater for different brides with different budgets is so smart – and with a focus on style and quality, it’s a recipe for success!

About Amelia Waddell of Make Your Day Wedding Styling: I’m a wedding stylist and proud store owner who loves to chat weddings with everyone and anyone! I love to talk shop with other business owners (particularly over some chocolate cake!) and am the first to try and have a sticky beak behind the scenes of any event. My free time is spent ‘investigating’ new cafes, stores and events. Make Your Day Wedding Styling is my creative outlet and I love nothing more than that ten minutes just before the guests enter the wedding reception, it feels like a special sort of magic!
