Photographing the little moments and the big moments, Elleni Toumpas is committed to preserving your memories. Elleni notices things that might slip by others – the smallest details which become the stories of ‘Oh, I remember that…’ The heartfelt moments between loved ones, the laughter and the speeches, the feelings of seeing your flowergirls all dressed up – all these are there for you to remember, whether it is tomorrow or 20 years from now. We asked Elleni of Elleni Toumpas five questions in five minutes:
What is your favourite after five drink?
Summer is just around the corner and with the warmer weather there is nothing better than a cider! Actually there is something better than cider and that is drinking a cider in a park with friends!
Your favourite weekend getaway?
Weekend getaways? What are those? For most of the year my weekends are spent meeting clients or shooting weddings. When I find myself in between seasons I try and cram a year worth of weekend getaways in to midweek or weekends away exploring the greater Melbourne area (driving out to Castlemaine or up to the Dandenongs is a fav) and going on a hike with friends. As I write this I have just gotten back from a 6 day trip to Tasmania.
Favourite restaurant?
I am a burger fiend so I can not go past checking out a new burger joint that I have not yet tried. For something a bit more upmarket I’ll instead go somewhere like Hellenic Republic (getting to my Greek roots).
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
Smashed avocado is my current fav breakfast treat chased down with at least two cups of coffee.
Your favourite wedding story?
There are so many moments I get to experience being a wedding photographer that makes me realise how lucky I am to call this my job. Any moment that feels as intimate and truly genuine always ends up going on my ‘favourite wedding moment list’. One time when I was in Tasmania photographing a wedding I found myself left in a room with a bride to be and her mother. They had just finished a rather hectic getting ready experience with a room full of their family watching on but as the room cleared and with the realisation that she was soon to be walking down the aisle the bride to be became overwhelmed with nerves, and her mother got quite emotional. They both shared a hug with tears running down their cheeks. It was such a personal moment but at the same time I took a couple of snaps quietly not interrupting it. In a split second you could feel a little awkward being there for those moments but at the same time this is my job and I feel so lucky I can capture it for them to relive again for years to come.”
