Diana & Roland
Happy Valentine’s Day, our dear Dotties. And what better way to ring in this truly romantic, beautiful occasion than with a a divine elopement from Sophie Baker Photography. Diana and Roland wanted to keep everything about their wedding as simple and special as possible, and wanted to have a cosy vibe, so chose to wed at the Old Church at Mount Tamborine, with only the two of them in attendance. Their photographer arrived after the ceremony to capture their enchantingly intimate Old Church elopement.
Of their love story, Diana remembers, “We were friends back in Hungary, where we are originally from, and when I heard that Roland was coming to visit his dad and brother in Australia, I thought it would be a great idea for me to come here and learn English. We spent a lot of time together after I arrived, and slowly started to fell in love. My now-husband took me to Numinbah Valley, but I did not have a clue why we were there. When we arrived, I found out that he was taking me horse riding. I was so happy as I have always loved horse riding and horses so much, but in the last couple of years I hadn’t had a chance to do it. After about an hour, we stopped and went down to a lovely, small lake with a bottle of sparkling wine and a fruit and cheese tray. When I stood up to open the bottle and turned back, he was on his knees and asked me the big question. I was so surprised, but I knew that I had found the one! It was so fabulous! It is truly going to be a wonderful memory for both of us.”
The couple were married at the sweet, soft blue Old Church on Mt Tamborine. “We really wanted something small, hidden and special,” the bride says of their ceremony venue. “We checked so many places beforehand, but none of them seemed to be the right choice. Then suddenly, when we were travelling in the mountains, we passed a small church. I started typing into Google and the image of the cutest church popped up. At that moment, we did not have to think about our venue anymore. We both knew that this was the place we were looking for. I am really glad that we kept it simple, as we could concentrate a 100% just on each other and what worked for us.”
The bride wore a stunningly detailed, ivory dress from Zimmermann, with sheer paneling. “I was so nervous about my dress, because I wanted something with a high-neck and long-sleeves. I did not want to spend a fortune on my dress, but wanteda really special one. I jumped on the internet and searched for days and nights until I found the dress made from my dreams!” Diana completed her elegantly simple wedding day look with hair and makeup by the very talented Amey Hair & Makeup, and held a sweet bouquet of baby’s breath and apricot roses.
“Our photographer was Sophie Baker, and we are so blessed to have found her. She is so professional, yet fun-loving. We had a really great time during the session. When we first saw our pictures on her Facebook page we were breathless. We couldn’t wait to see the rest of them! She can catch moments so perfectly, that every time we are looking at our pictures we feel that we are at our wedding day again, which is truly amazing.”
“Definitely when my husband started to say his vows,” Diana says of her favourite moment from the day. “I have never seen him so touched by a moment, and the way he looked at me and could barely speak just made me feel like no one else existed except us. For us, marriage means love and commitment to the other. I love being married, and I love the feeling that, no matter what happens, we will be always there for each other, and support each other in everything.”
We just adore this wildly romantic elopement from Sophie Baker Photography – thank you to her and the couple for sharing it with us!
