Lisa & Hamish

Romantic Spring days filled with flowers by the water seem like the most dreamy way to spend a weekend and when Lisa and Hamish celebrated their romantic Perth waterside wedding – it was filled with not just romantic details, but also a beautiful story that wove it’s way throughout the day. Fields + Skies Photography were there to capture it all.

The couple’s story culminated in a romantic Christmas morning proposal. Lisa remembering “We are both originally from Kalgoorlie but met in Perth six years ago through mutual friends, it’s a small world… I guess the rest is history from there. Our engagement story is special to us: We were on a ski holiday in Japan with a group of friends & decided to visit Sapporo to spend our first white Christmas there. On Chrismas morning we went for a walk through the city park ‘Odori Park’. It was really magical, lightly snowing, no one around & I was taking some photos and turned around to Hamish as he got down on one knee saying “I have one last gift for you to give to me. Will you marry me?” It was so romantic and I honestly had no idea!”

Lisa found her gown at Bridal by Aubrey Rose , telling “I loved the vintage lace look, ivory white & a warmer undertone for the lace to really stand out with a cap sleeve style. The dress I wore was a Peter Trend Dominica strapless dress purchased from Bridal by Aubrey Rose. It had contoured lace and gave the perfect hourglass silhouette. Delicate rows of pearl beading adorn the bodice and narrow belt. I went to a few bridal stores but couldn’t recommend the ladies at Aubrey enough, they made me feel so comfortable and I had fun with them. Just before I made my decision, Karen (owner) made me try this dress on, the cut was something I didn’t see myself in but loved it the moment it was on. She knew my dream dress before I did!!”

Lisa and Hamish met for photos before their ceremony, noting “we decided to have our photos before the ceremony so we could kick start celebrations with everyone straight after the ceremony. I was getting ready at The Boat Shed, so the boys joined us there. Ali (our photographer) had taken Hamish out to the pier outside Mosmans and I walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. I was overwhelmed with emotion, but it was so lovely seeing him for the first time and it was just the two of us.”

“Ali from Fields + Skies Photography was a dream to work with, a very talented photographer and I couldn’t recommend her enough! We had a number of meetings with her in the lead-up and we just clicked! On the day she was like my 5th bridesmaid and kept the calm & we had so much fun. I am so in love with our wedding photos and discovering a new favourite photo each time I look at them. A true talent!”

Lisa and Hamish were married at Nedlands Yacht Club , Lisa remarking “We chose Nedlands Yacht Club as it provided the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding. Lovely, luscious grass along the river with a city view on the horizon. We were able to supply our own caterers and the venue offered a fantastic drink package with a great wine selection.”

Lisa walked down the aisle to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole sung by an acoustic band Little Bird.

After drinks on the lawn, guests celebrated with a sit-down dinner – styled by MaMinkWink  who also designed the floral arrangements for the day. Lisa explaining “MaMinkWink was by far a stand out vendor for me – Kay came recommended by a close friend & was the reason my whole wedding came together the way it did. She was our stylist, florist & coordinator. We worked together from the very start on all things styling & flowers. She hand made items for our wedding day such as wooden platters for our food, our DJ booth from made wooden crates based off a photo I showed her, hand made blue & white striped napkins, rosemary wreaths hand picked from our own garden as name tags for our reception placing & basically anything else I found on Pinterest she brought to life. Everything to the finest details was perfect thanks to Kay and her team!”

“We had little Japanese dolls as part of our place settings, which referenced our proposal story.”

“We had a seated relaxed reception with the food truck bringing around platters to all tables for everyone to share. We just wanted everyone to be comfortable to eat and during the speeches and then we all danced the night away to the extended finish time of 1 am! Everyone was seated underneath the verandah and the dance floor was set up in front of the river on the grass with streams of festoon lights, white lanterns & fairy lights.”

Of the first dance, Lisa remembers “We chose Josh Pyke’s acoustic cover of The Jezebels ‘Endless Summer’. It is such a beautiful song and fit in with our hot summer wedding night under the stars. It was a nervous, but beautiful moment for us too.”

“Our dance floor out on the grass was pumping all night long & everyone had a great time! It made the night so much more fun.”

Congratulations on your marriage Lisa and Hamish! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Fields + Skies Photography for sharing today’s celebration.
