I recently took six months off shooting weddings to have a baby – my first child, a beautiful daughter. Nothing has changed me like becoming a mother changed me. It is raw and earth shattering and joyful and heart wrenching all at the same time. It is all consuming.

When I returned to photographing weddings I realised how important photography was in my life, now more than ever. Photography is my compass, my guide. A thirst that is never quenched. I am constantly moved by images, constantly searching and constantly hungry to see more and to feel more.

To spend the day with people on the most important day of their lives is a privilege. It is what makes me cry behind my camera EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is the silence amongst all the noise.

I took these photos last week at Josh and Ivy’s wedding. They said “i do” at the registry office, with just five friends in tow.

The picture above is as we walked to the ceremony… We walked there together, battling the wind and the cold.

The leading photo captures the moment we jumped into the lift after they said “i do.” I love their love.
For all the weddings I have been to, for all the love I’ve seen, this one really struck a chord. It was simple. It was raw. It was fuss free. It was true. It was everything it’s meant to be. It was about the two of them and it didn’t pretend to be anything other than that.

Ms Zigzag says: We all thoroughly love the work we get to do each day here at Polka Dot Bride, and we are inspired by others in the wedding industry who genuinely enjoy their jobs too. This is a sweet tale from Zoe who is in love with photographing weddings.
