Wishing that you could have your wedding on the Mornington Peninsula?  Then Summerfields Estate and Country House  could be just the place you are looking for. A Connecticut style country mansion set amidst rolling country gardens, olive groves and an ornamental lake this gorgeous venue also has beautifully appointed rooms to take advantage of. With a menu of locally sourced produce and wines, accommodation on site and close by, and only around an hour from Melbourne, Summerfields Estate is the perfect mix of country and elegance that we love.

We asked Joyce of Summerfields Estate and Country House five questions in five minutes:

What is your reward after a big working day?

A nice foot massage from my husband! Nothing like a massage to relax.

What is your favourite after five drink?
In summer I love sitting back with a Rose Water Iced Tea with mint, pomegranate and roasted pine nuts, I know it sounds a little left of field but it is fantastic and I like having a drink that you can munch on too! Very refreshing but best of all delicious virgin or with a splash of Ouzo… Yum!

Favourite weekend getaway?

The Grampians! Beautiful countryside, long nature walks and fabulous local food and wines. Even the road trip is just full of beautiful views, I just love it.

What is your most prized possession?

My diary – it records my ups and downs, tears and laughter.

Favourite restaurant?

For our first wedding anniversary last year, my husband took me to Woodland House in Prahran. Excellent food and service, and a beautiful location. The company was not bad too! Closer to Summerfields, our favourite would be Veraison Restaurant at Tootgarook. Excellent and constantly changing menu and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

What do you most enjoy about being in the wedding industry?

Seeing different couples from different backgrounds, and listening to their stories. There’s always so much to learn!

Every wedding story has its special and memorable moments that make you stop, some even take your breath away! But a favourite we have at Summerfields was a couple who met in Australia while he was on holidays out from Canada. After months together here they continued a long distance relationship. Then sometime later he arrived to “visit family” and surprised her with his proposal in October. Marrying here at Summerfields the following January on her parents’ wedding anniversary, it was upon the priest announcing them as man and wife that the staff here all stopped to a huge reaction to their first kiss. Finding out later that this was in fact their “first ever kiss”. Very special day!
