Kate & Nigel

When a wedding combines palm trees and puppy dogs can it really be anything less than amazing? Kate and Nigel took their wedding to the beach, wanting something that had minimal fuss yet still allowed their closest loved ones to attend – including four-legged friend Lucy! They chose Peppermint Photography to be there to capture the day as it unfolded.

The newlyweds tell us the tale of how they came to be. “We met online. We started chatting and quickly realised that our values and dreams and goals were very closely aligned. Kate lived in Melbourne, Nigel lived in Adelaide so, after travelling back and forth from Melbourne to Adelaide and Adelaide to Melbourne pretty much every weekend, we decided that it would be best for Kate to give up her life and job in Melbourne and make the move to Adelaide to be with Nigel.”

The couple worked with  South Pacific Bridal to plan their day, explaining, “We searched for a wedding planner for Cairns and South Pacific Bridal came up, they were extremely fun and professional from the very first time of contact and well worth the money we paid for them to do all the organising. They were super communicative, fun, friendly and very professional and I felt it was very good value for money considering they were organising everything and we didn’t need to worry about a thing! Was a breeze really. “

Kate and Nigel chose Alamanda Palm Cove for their ceremony, explaining “My sister recommended the venue for the ceremony and the reception. We wanted to elope as we wanted minimal fuss for our wedding, but didn’t want to go overseas so decided to make it in far north QLD. Kate’s sister lives in Cairns and she suggested Palm Cove. It was the best decision. Still not too far for immediate family to travel to from Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.”

The bride remembers “We loved having Lucy (our dog) at our ceremony and seeing how deliciously cute she was in her snazzy little harness and gorgeous floral dog collar. She won the hearts of all the guests as our junior bridesmaid walked her down the aisle.”

Of her wedding gown, designed by Jack Sullivan, the bride remembers, “It took me a very long time to find my dress as we were pushed for time with such a short engagement and I was “just” pregnant so needed to find a dress that catered for a growing bust and tummy. It was fairly stressful but once I found the dress, I went back to it three times before I decided.”

Of their photographer, the bride tells, “We found our photographer by serendipity actually! Our jeweller recommended ‘Peppermint Photography’ as he got married in Palm Cove also. So I googled it but couldn’t find in Cairns…only one in Brisbane. I actually fell in love with her photography style immediately, so it was a very fortunate finding! Amanda was just so lovely also and we connected really well with her over the phone. We are delighted with the photographs that she took.”

The bride has one special addition – a brand new baby bump!

The newlyweds celebrated with their intimate group of guests at Nu Nu Restaurant, dancing on the sand to George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Sun”.

Congratulations on your marriage Kate and Nigel! Thank you for sharing it with us today and thank you to Peppermint Photography for sharing today’s photographs!
