Virginia & Lindsay
We love a simple wedding around these parts. The kind of day where you arrive at a gorgeous venue, grab a glass of champagne and just spend the night with those that you love. No hullaballoo – just time together, and love. Virginia and Lindsay chose this very style of day for their relaxed Guildford Hotel wedding, with Amy Skinner Photography capturing it all beautifully.
After meeting at the bride’s sister’s wedding (love those stories!) Lindsay proposed to Virginia on a surprise Perth outing. Virginia retelling “Our classic date night would involve getting take away from a local restaurant and eating it down on the South Perth foreshore overlooking the city lights. Being the sentimental location Lindsay booked a table at Coco’s restaurant, then after dinner while walking along the foreshore Lindsay proposed.”
The couple chose the historic setting of The Guildford Hotel for their wedding, explaining “We fell in love with The Guildford Hotel and its charm. We loved that our guests didn’t have to relocate between the two sections of the wedding.
The venue was first built in the 19th century and has so much character. The reception room had six beautiful arched windows, exposed brick walls, beautiful wooden floorboards and long locally handmade wooden tables. The food was a (family style) share feast with platters, plates and boards served to the centre of the table.
The Guildford Hotel was fantastic, extremely helpful, organised and provided great service during the planning and during the wedding.”
The bride walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go.”
Kirk Goodsell officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering “Kirk Goodsell our celebrant made the whole process so relaxed and fun. He was fantastic and couldn’t have been better.
We choose a simple, short and relaxed ceremony. So what better place than a pub! (the room was sectioned off from the public).
To keep the setting simple and natural we choose an artificial grass aisle to walk down, there were large green palms and a lace curtain backdrop. The room had lovely character like exposed brick, wooden beams, open roof and an extremely large tree which we hung dream catchers from.”
The bride wore a family heirloom on the day, telling “My great-grandmother’s (from my mother side) necklace that each generation since has worn on their wedding day. I transformed the necklace into a headpiece to suit my dress and style. I love that it was a centrepiece to my look and a lovely reminder of my family.”
Of their photographer, the bride tells “Amy was fantastic and I felt so comfortable leaving it in her hands. The photos turned out great! She was efficient, friendly, affordable, relaxed and so easy going. We had many laughs together. I highly recommend her.”
Reception celebrations continued at the hotel, tables adorned with greenery by Jane and Jones Flower Co who created the floral details for the day. Virginia explaining “Jane and Jones Flower Co were so creative and friendly to work with. They captured exactly what I was visualising.
We chose flowers which were unstructured with lots of luscious green texture. The bridal table had a lovely foliage garland to run along the front of the table. Along the long dining tables at the reception, we had bud vases. We incorporated a variety of coloured blooms and some foliage to bring colour to the long tables.”
Guests took home wedding favours of homemade baked cookies by Baked by Erica.
It was all about the cheese with the newlyweds choosing wheels of cheese instead of a traditional wedding cake.
Lindsay remarks “Our favourite part would have to be the atmosphere. Everyone coming together, the joy, laughter, smiles and most importantly the love.”
One of the bride’s favourite moments was being able to do a father-daughter dance with her dad
The bride remembers “We didn’t want the traditional cheesy wedding song and didn’t do a structured dance. The song we choose was 1000X by Jarrad James & Broods – the song was perfect and a touch alternative.”
Congratulations on your marriage Virginia & Lindsay! Thank you for sharing you beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Amy Skinner Photography for sharing today’s stunning celebration.
