When Tim proposed to Emily, the two were doing exactly what they love; spending time in nature. The groom to be searched for the highest peak on a hike across Tasmania’s Three Capes Track before rain foiled his plans and the trail’s end, right on the beach, turned out to be the perfect spot to pop the question. It was with this same love of being outdoors that Emily and Tim chose a classic Blue Mountains wedding to celebrate their love story. Kevin Lue was there to make sure every moment was documented beautifully.

Emily tells, “We met at work – I was a new starter in the team. When I began Tim was on a surfing holiday, which I found very intriguing! From there we started talking, emailing and coffee-ing and it all went from there!”

Emily added special pieces to her look for the day, explaining, “My mum organized a lovely surprise of ‘something borrowed’ – my grandmother’s engagement ring, ‘something blue’ – a handkerchief with our names sewn on to celebrate the day, ‘something old’ – a photo of her and I when I was a baby and ‘something new’ – a personalized and lovely coat hanger for my dress! It was very thoughtful and touching.”

The bride found her sequinned-bodice Truvelle wedding gown at Love, Marie. She remembers, “I wore the ‘Columbia’ gown. I absolutely loved my dress, however, it wasn’t something I would have picked off the rack! We had a lovely experience getting the dress from Amy at Love Marie Bridal in Camden; she has a boutique with an amazing range of dresses. She closed down her boutique for an hour for us and made the process really special and relaxed! It was only from trying on a variety of dresses and seeing what styles suited me on (rather than what I liked photos of) which resulted in me finding the right dress.”

The couple chose Blue Mountains venue Seclusions for their wedding, noting, “We always wanted to have a wedding with an outdoor focus as we love hiking and being among nature. When we visited Seclusions we instantly knew that was the place we wanted to get married. The backdrop is spectacular – you cannot beat the beauty of the Blue Mountains. Tom and Julie are lovely and helped us a lot throughout the process.”

Emily remembers, “I walked down the aisle to ‘Maribou State’ by Varkala. It’s such a beautiful song. My lovely dad walked me down the aisle – it was a very special moment.”

Emily and Tim chose their dear friend Mitch to officiate the ceremony, Emily remembering, “We wanted our ceremony to reflect us, being relaxed and personalized. Our good friend Mitch was the celebrant, he was fantastic which made the moment even more special. Our wedding was just before the same-sex marriage vote was announced, so we wanted to demonstrate within our ceremony that we in favour of the laws being changed.

We both wrote our own vows which spoke about how we met and made our lifetime promises to each other. We also had two good friends make some lovely readings; Andi read ‘Time In A Bottle’ by Jim Croce and Julia read ‘Love Is the Reason’ by Brian Zouch.”

“I love the photo of Tim and I as we walked down the aisle after getting married, looking at each other with such happiness as rose petals are falling! It’s a beautiful shot” tells the bride.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and garden games post-ceremony, Emily noting, “We just wanted everyone to have a relaxed and fun day and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. We were lucky enough to have a nice day so people could relax and have canapes and cocktails while playing lawn games, which is something we really wanted to include in the wedding!”

Of their photographer, the bride gushes, “He was amazing. Not only is he lovely and friendly but he took the most fantastic photos of us. We’re very grateful!”

Friend Dani Pinkus and The Little Flower Shop created the floral details for the day, the bride remarks, “Our amazing friend Dani Pinkus has styled a few weddings before and did an amazing job styling the Pavilion for our wedding with her sister Jess. She created hanging balls of greenery and flowers which looked amazing (and were a lot of hard work!) which really complemented the venue. We had Olivia from The Little Flower Shop create the bouquets and archway piece, which were lovely and tied into the rustic vibe. The theme was a blush/pink design with succulents, peonies and other seasonal flowers with buttonholes to match. We absolutely loved the flowers.”

Unplanned Bakery created a semi-naked cake for the newlyweds, who remark, “Erin English from the Unplanned Bakery made our wedding cake and desserts – not only were they amazing and delicious but she was so lovely and thoughtful throughout the whole process! She came up with a lot of great ideas for the dessert table and she was very helpful and inventive.”

Emily tells “I loved the speeches – I was not expecting them to be so lovely and heartfelt, they made everyone in the room (especially Tim and I) very emotional! You could certainly feel the love in the air. The speeches from my dad Greg, Tim’s mum Petra, Aviva, Tim’s brother and best man Dan and Tim were all amazing! I could not believe how perfect and thoughtful they all were.”

Of their first dance, the bride remembers, “We chose Flight Facilities’ ‘Crave You’ as this was a song we listened to a lot when we first started seeing each other. We even learned a little dance from YouTube which went OK on the day – but we practised it better at home!”

Congratulations on your marriage Emily and Tim! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us. Thank you also to Kevin Lue for sharing today’s celebration.
