Meri & Raul

Today’s chic beachside engagement in St Kilda captures everything I love about the beach. The wild winds, the moody tones, the billowing clouds, the grey skies. This is the beach that I adore. Captured beautifully by Caroline Sada Photography, Meri and Raul wanted a “simple and minimalistic ” feel to their engagement photos, the pair choosing much loved Melbourne beachside suburb of St Kilda as the setting for their story to unfold.

Meri tells the story of how they came to be. “We met online. Having a very busy time in our lives left no opportunities to meet new people so going online on a dating site at the end of a tiring working day was a good change. It was exciting to come home to a new message in the inbox and sharing thoughts in the late hours of the day. We quickly realised how much we have in common and couldn’t wait to meet face-to-face.”

On what they love about one another, Meri speaks “I believe we have similar views on life and how we want to live it. I love Raul’s determination, commitment and the ongoing desire to develop his professional and personal skills. He can also be the sweetest, most helpful and considerate person. I believe he appreciates my openness and people skills as well as a good sense of humour we share.”

The groom proposed in a completely “Them” kind of way, says Meri. “It was really quite spontaneous and I think this was the best way to do it. I wouldn’t have preferred a cheesy “ring in a champagne glass” act and Raul’s not really a very classically romantic man. We understand each other well and there is no need to overdo things to make it feel special.”

Meri remarks “We wanted something simple and minimalistic yet an environment that leaves a bit of space for playfulness. It was a rainy day so it worked really well going with a bit more dramatic, darker colors of our outfits and cloudy/moody backgrounds. I love the fact that it’s not too happy-go-lucky style sunny photoshoot with overly romantic posing but something quite natural.”
