Kit & Richard

The idea of running away to a stunning Italian villa to tie the knot is the stuff wedding dreams are made of, so when Kit and Richard chose to hold their  Indian Destination Wedding In An Italian Villa, you can bet it was a story I couldn’t wait to share with you.

Captured beautifully by Andrea & Federica, the day kicked off with a traditional Hindu ceremony, before a civil ceremony. Guests dined with the couple, (who met while working together at a hospital), under sparkling light with grand candelabras. The wedding was the most beautiful way to spend a holiday.

The bride dressed in a rose gold sari made in Kancheepuram, she tells  “My sari is from Kancheepuram a town in South India, which my family is originally from. It is traditional to buy your wedding sari, for yourself and your entire family from Kancheepuram. I chose a rose gold pure silk sari after looking at about 50 rose gold saris! They had so much choice! My mum also found a similar one which was special.”

The Hindu ceremony was held at Posta All Donini, Kit explaining “We had the ceremonies at Posta All Donini in Perugia. All of our guests stayed at the hotel the night before and the night after the wedding. We had a little holiday with all our guests, in such a beautiful place.”

Kit tells “I wanted the Hindu ceremony to be traditional. It meant a lot to me to try and incorporate some of my heritage into the wedding.”

For the civil ceremony, the bride chose a long lace gown, with a train by  Pronovias from Eternity Bridal Wear. She tells “My dress was simple and fitted. I am quite petite so didn’t want something that would be too big for me. I tried on only a few dresses before I found the perfect one – I just knew when I put it on!”

Kit remembers “I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’ Canon in D. We had guitarist and violins to play me down the aisle – which added a folksy twist to the traditional music. It was perfect for the setting. My dad, of course, walked me down the aisle – he was great at it even though he was so nervous.”

Kit remarks “For the civil ceremony we were both super excited. I think we have both been to so many weddings of our friends and family and sat watching the bride walk down the aisle to her future husband that we couldn’t believe it was our turn. Richard shed a few tears which set off all the guests crying too! We had three readings read by our oldest friends, Louise and Tom, and Richard’s dad Steve. We chose a quote from Bob Marley from Tom to Richard which was practical and funny. Louise read ‘I carry your heart’ by EE Cummings which is a poem we both love. And Steve read a verse from a children’s book ‘I like you’ from Sandol Stoddard because it captured all the simple things in life we really like about each other!”

Un Fiore in Tasca styled the floral decor for the day, Kit explaining “We wanted really simple flower arrangements as the wedding was already in Italian gardens. We continued the theme with green and white flowers, with shades of dusky pink.”

Of their photographers, Kit tells “We had the lovely Andrea & Federica as our official photographers – we love our photos. The colours are exactly how we saw the day, rustic and simple.”

Umbria Wedding and Events planned and styled the celebration, Kit explaining “We planned the look of the wedding and we knew how we wanted it to feel for us and our guests. The rest of the minutiae we left to our wonderful wedding planner Fatima!”

A magical first dance topped off the night, the bride telling “The first dance was one of the best moments of our lives. We chose ‘High’ by the Lighthouse family. It’s a song from our childhood, that has great lyrics. After dancing to a couple of verses together we looked up to see all of our best friends and family singing the song at the top of their lungs at us! And then everyone joined in and got the party started.”

Congratulations on your marriage Kit and Richard! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Andrea & Federica for sharing today’s stunning wedding with us!
