Angela & Jeremy

It was in front of a wild and lush floral backdrop that Angela and Jeremy said ‘I do’ in their modern, Melbourne flower-filled wedding, With stunning photography by Milina Opsenica Photography, Angela and Jeremy kicked off their celebrations with a morning ceremony, a lunch time reception and danced the night away with their guests at a cocktail bar. The day, as the bride describes was “Distinctively Melbourne – simplistic, modern, all about the food and wine.”

The couple met while travelling through Borneo, the two, falling head over heels before Angela, moved from her home of Sydney to be with Jeremy in Melbourne. The fun of the festival, Golden Plains, seemed the perfect setting for a proposal. Angela telling “We had come with friends and had gone off to set up our spot for the day when Jeremy completely surprised me and dropped down on one knee. We celebrated with our best friends and espresso martinis.”

The bride chose a simple floor length, white gown by Elizabeth and James, of which she tells “I knew I didn’t want a standard bridal gown and didn’t want to pay thousands of dollars, but wanted something that was uniquely me.

I chose the ‘Amya’, a sleek gown with front split and lace tie. It fit me like a glove and I felt incredible.”

The couple chose the all-white canvas of Trealorland in Brunswick for their ceremony, noting “We wanted a distinctly Melbourne to feel to our day, with multiple venues in a number of places in the inner city. Our ceremony was held in a studio/ warehouse type space which allowed us to make it our own.”

Looseleaf created an amazing floral backdrop for the ceremony, Angela telling “As our ceremony was in a white studio we wanted a feature for our ceremony and photographs. Loose Leaf created the most magical backdrop the blew everyone, including us away. The peonies were huge, and the scent of the installation was incredible.”

Of the processional, the bride remembers “We chose an instrumental track by ‘Husky’ for my short walk down the aisle with my very proud father. Husky holds a special place in our relationship, having been a support act at our first concert we attended together.”

“Our ceremony was intimate and officiated by my Aunty, Dr Colleen O’Reilly, which was so special to us. She kept it simple and we included simple readings and blessings” tells the bride. “We wanted our ceremony to be simple and relaxed, with Billecart Champagne served before and after the ceremony. We had photographs in front of our floral installations after the ceremony with all our guests and had the chance to chat with everyone.”

Angela comments “Every time we see a photo of our floral installation at our ceremony we can’t believe that it was our wedding. From seeing the initial sketch to seeing it brought to life was amazing and beyond our expectations.”

The first reception was a sit-down lunch at The Empress, a Melbourne Pub. With the help of Looseleaf, guests were gifted orchid kokedama as wedding favors. The bride explaining “Having great food and wine was a priority, as we wanted our guests to experience the best of Melbourne, so Peter from The Empress gave us exactly what we wanted.”

The celebrations kicked on at cocktail bar The Noble Experiment, with more family and friends joining the newlyweds, where guests were greeted by a custom, handpainted sign by Sign Vision, celebrating the newlyweds. Angela noting “We created simple white invitations with neon pink lettering, so we kept this theme going with a sign created by signwriter Larry from Signvision. We were blown away with the sign and now have it hanging in our home as a reminder of our day.”

Of their photographer, Angela tells “Our photographer Milina Opsenica was absolutely amazing. Her documentary style photography was exactly what we wanted for our day.

She was relaxed, provided the best advice such as having a sip of champagne before walking down the aisle, and most importantly she fit in with our family and friends like she was one of us. She captured the day better than we could have imagined and she captured some beautifully candid moments.”

Harper and Blohm designed a cheesecake and epic cheese boards for the cocktail reception, the bride remarking “We invited more family and friends to our evening venue, the Noble Experiment, a cocktail bar in Collingwood. It was held in their underground private bar and we had an incredible cheese tower from Harper & Blohm, Essendon. Nothing better than a cocktail and cheese tower which was devoured by our guests.”

The first dance was a fun choice for the newlyweds, who remember “We had talked and joked a lot about what song we would use for our first dance.

We started with Jessie Ware’s song Midnight (acoustic), which was great to begin our slow dance, then we busted out Toto by Africa and everyone joined in.”

A big congratulations Angela and Jeremy! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us (and those flowers!). Thank you to Milina Opsenica Photography for today’s stunning imagery!

It was a beautiful day. One I shall never forget. This write-up has brought it all back to me though I am nearly 12000 miles from wonderful downtown Melbourne.

OK, so I am the Grooms dad and I think of beautiful Angela as the daughter I never had, so I am allowed to be as biased as I like. It was the best wedding ever, and I have been to a few. So relaxed, everyone there to celebrate Angela and Jeremy. Perfect.
