Millie & Tyson

It was in the middle of a rainforest that the gorgeous couple in today’s wedding said their vows. With their son Hudson by their side, the top of Mount Tamborine put on the most spectacular sunset as their family and favourite people gathered for a mountain top ceremony. In a day that was reflective of its tropical location, the couple wove modern, tropical styling throughout every element of their wedding.

With the moments captured by Lovelenscapes, it seems these two were always meant to be. After a high school meeting, their lives crossed paths for many years before they finally made the leap. A weekend hike proved the most romantic spot for Tyson to pop the question. Millie recalls, “We went camping at Blackdown Tablelands which is Tyson’s ancestors’ traditional land. On the second morning, we went hiking and he got down on one knee at the top with the most epic view and proposed.”

The bride found her lace gown at Luv Bridal telling, “I was really set on finding a vintage lace dress. I went shopping with my best friend and her mum and I tried a dress on at Luv Bridal that wasn’t really my style but I was so in love with the bottom of the dress and the lace – I couldn’t say no to it. I had a goal to alter the top and keep the bottom. I ended up falling pregnant with our gorgeous son Hudson and wasn’t able to drop the baby weight in time so I altered the back with a corset through Alter Ego in Fortitude Valley and had the sleeves just off my shoulders. I teared up at my final fitting, the end result was just beautiful and so me!”

The bride wore a special bracelet on her wedding day, telling, “My favourite photo would have to be of my grandmother and my son Hudson and the shot of my Mum putting my bracelet on my wrist during the wedding morning. The bracelet is put together with pennies that my grandfather collected.”

Millie chose a very special song for her walk down the aisle – Major’s “This is why I love you.” She explains “I picked this song because one day I was laying in bed with Tys and it played on the stereo. I rolled over to him and thought ‘yep that’s the one’. My father walked me down the aisle.”

To honour the groom’s heritage, the ceremony began with traditional Aboriginal didgeridoo playing.

Caroline Jackson performed the ceremony, Millie telling, “To be honest, I just wanted our ceremony to be comfortable and fun for everyone. For us, I wanted it to be meaningful and to not drag on too long. The ceremony was one of my favourite parts of the day. It was so beautiful. Caroline Jackson, our celebrant, did an amazing job. There were lots of tears and laughter and I remember every single moment, even the music playing when we signed our certificate. I loved the fact that I could pick what Caroline opened with. I picked a reading that resembled Tyson and my years together so far. Then we had Tyson’s older sister and my good friend do a reading. We also had Tyson’s cousin play the didgeridoo wearing traditional paint at the beginning of the ceremony to represent Tyson’s culture.”

Millie and Tyson chose the beautiful Cedar Creek Lodges for their wedding, noting, “We decided on Cedar Creek Lodges because we really wanted the rainforest/nature feel with the reception and ceremony at the same location. We were also looking for easy accommodation options for our guests and Cedar Creek Lodges has a range of studio rooms to 4-bedroom houses available.”

Millie reminisces, “I was so sick the night before the wedding. I was up until 4am, but then I woke up on the day, I was feeling amazing and the whole day went smoothly. There’s no point in stressing when you have such amazing vendors! And it was pouring down rain the day before, so we couldn’t even do the rehearsal (hence the stress). Then it disappeared on the day and we had the most amazing weather, topped off by a golden sunset at our photo location overlooking Mount Tamborine.”

Millie and Tyson worked with Veronica Jo Flowers on their tropical-inspired floral arrangements. Millie says, “I just always wanted green, green and more green at our wedding! I said to Veronica-Jo, our florist, just load me up with the green and cream and that she did. The flowers were absolutely stunning!”

Of their photographers, the bride tells, “We just love them so much. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing you’ve picked people who want to capture your day in a way that will have you tearing up over your photos in 20 years time. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times – we couldn’t have picked better people to capture our day. They are such real and beautiful people with a determination to produce the best, and they do every time. We had so much fun and we loved those photos and felt even more relaxed about the wedding day.”

Millie and Tyson had nineteen people in their wedding party, including many childhood friends and family, with them on their day.

Secret Wedding Events planned the day for Millie and Tyson, the bride remembering, “Lisa helped me with literally everything – the best wedding planner. I loved planning my wedding, but I think my favourite part was having a wedding planner who helped me with my baby brain moments, I spent most of the time being engaged and going through my first pregnancy at the same time.”

Millie and Tyson took to the dance floor, gifting their guests thongs for dancing, surrounded by sparklers to a sentimental favourite. Remembers the bride, “Our first dance was to Elvis Presley – ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’. It was the last dance I saw my grandfather dance to and I remember promising myself when I was 10 that that was going to be my wedding song.”

Congratulations to the newlyweds! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us. Thank you also to Lovelenscapes for today’s imagery.
