When planning a proposal picnic, nothing but the best will do! Make these absurdly delicious dark chocolate and whiskey truffles, and they will most certainly be remembered, even over the high of getting engaged!
These delectable delights can also be given as gifts and look extra snazzy when dipped in lovely toppings. I’ve used chopped pistachios and cocoa, but you can let your imagination run wild! Pack these chocolatey truffles in a basket with some strawberries and champagne and you’ve got a winning proposal picnic!
What You Will Need:
- The recipe includes 150ml double cream, 150g good quality dark chocolate, 20g butter, 2 TBSP whiskey, 1/2 cup pistachios, 2 TBSP good quality cocoa
- Heavy based saucepan
- Small dish, spoon and whisk
- Waxed paper bag or wee box to pop your truffles in, and some delicious extras to go with them!
Step 1. Pop the cream into the heavy based saucepan over a medium heat, and heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from the heat and drop the butter and evenly chopped chocolate in. Let sit for approximately 5 minutes, before whisking to a smooth consistency, adding the whiskey as you whisk.
Step 2. Once the truffle mixture is smooth, pour it into a dish and place in the fridge to cool and set (approximately one hour, depending on the depth of the dish). While this is happening, shell and finely chop the pistachios.
Step 3. Once set, remove the truffle mixture from the fridge. Using two spoons (or your hands) shape small quenelle shapes or roll into balls, before dipping into your chosen toppings.
Step 4. Once the truffles are coated in pistachios or cocoa, they can be stored in the fridge up to two weeks. Wrap these in sweet boxes or package up for a proposal picnic (or any sort of picnic!), and they shall win hearts hearts wherever they go!
