How we met:

I met Daniel out one night in Fortitude Valley via our mutual friends at the time. I saw him a few weeks later and told his bestie I thought he was good looking and that I was interested. Daniel ended up coming up to me at our local pub and said ‘so I heard you like me hey…?’ !!! So, we chatted throughout the night and decided we’d see each other again. It has been 10 years and we haven’t been separated for more than a few days since that night. Time has flown by and we’ve built a long lasting love based on being best friends.

I’m so glad I told his mate I liked him, if i hadn’t then we wouldn’t be together today.

How He Asked:

I knew I was flying to Sydney, which I thought was for a work event for Daniel. Once I arrived at Brisbane airport I was booked into business class – which I thought was a bit unusual for a work event. Once in Sydney, I had a private chauffeur with a Bentley approach me and I got instant butterflies trying to register what was going on. Why was I getting the VIP treatment?

The chauffeur passed me a love letter from Daniel – it read that Daniel had a surprise for me and instructed me to follow the steps I was going to receive in each letter that followed. I asked the driver where we were going and what was happening, but he wouldn’t give anything away, except when he said “Someone sure does love you”. I was so excited!

We arrived at a jetty in Double Bay in Sydney. The driver told me to walk down to the jetty and pointed to a large super yacht waiting for me. I was in shock, it was surprise after surprise! The staff on the yacht welcomed me and handed me a glass of Veuve Clicquot, my favourite champagne and another love letter, which read “Enjoy the ride, I’ll be with you soon. Daniel”. I sat and enjoyed the view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from my very own 120 foot super yacht on a perfect sunny day. What else could a girl want!

But there was more…we pulled up to a jetty to what I realised was a private island in Sydney Harbour, and I could see a photographer snapping photos as we pulled up. The staff helped me off the yacht and in front of me was a chalk board sign directing me to keep walking and to follow the rest of the signs. I still hadn’t seen Daniel but as I walked around the corner I saw him standing at the end of the island, by the water, surrounded by rose petals, a picnic blanket and more champagne. I walked over and we were both giggling, I kissed him, he told me he loved me and dropped down one knee and asked “Will you marry me?”.

I didn’t even look at the ring, I just kept saying ‘Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!” and Daniel had to remind me to put the ring on. It was the most perfect moment! After we took some photos on the island and had a few drinks we got back on the yacht to enjoy a perfect afternoon cruising around Sydney Harbour with canapés and enjoying the sights.

The yacht then dropped us off at Park Hyatt where we had a VIP room booked for the weekend. It was quite the entrance. I found out that Daniel had engaged the help of ‘my proposal co.’ to help him plan the perfect proposal for us. He had all the ideas and they helped him plan the whole thing and add extra touches along the way. He certainly would have needed some help with planning such an extravagant day!

That night, we enjoyed a beautiful fine dining dinner in the Opera House at Bennelong Restaurant, it couldn’t have been a more perfect day.

Ms Zebra Says: What an incredible surprise & amazing day! So much thought and planning – and how could you say no to all of that?!
