Jayde & Nick

Combining country and city aesthetics, Jayde and Nick created a wedding day their loved ones would remember! With modern florals, a seriously stunning venue and the perfect sunset, it was as beautiful as it was heartfelt. Jerome Cole Photography captured their day.

The couple met one romantic rainy day in Abbotsford. Jayde remembers, ”I was a selling agent at the auction and Nick is a buyers advocate. As it started to rain Nick pulled his umbrella out and held it over me. The auctioneer, seeing an in for a laugh from the crowd said, ‘Why does she get the umbrella? I’m the one doing all the work here!’ To which Nick replied, ‘She is much prettier than you!’ Nick asked around to see if any of the other advocates knew anything about me, to which his boss prompted Nick to just ‘harden up’ and call me. Secretly I had been hoping for a call so naturally agreed to our first date almost too quickly when he did call a couple of weeks later!” The groom proposed following a beautiful walk and breakfast at Rae’s on Watego’s.

Sticking close to what she had originally planned, Jayde tells, ”After months of watching Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration, I was pretty set on a fitted dress with a lot of lace. I almost surprised myself at the last minute with a ball gown! I was just having so much fun and fell in love with several different designs. In the end the dress I chose had the elements that I had fallen in love with in all the other dresses and was a pretty close fit to what I had imagined from the beginning. My something borrowed and blue were a pair of Christian Louboutin blue sparkly heels. One of my best friends and bridesmaids, Alana, wore them at her wedding and has saved them for her gorgeous daughter to have. I feel so thankful that she so generously lent them to me.” The groom wore Hugo Boss.

Walked down the aisle by her Grandpa, the bride (and groom) chose Tanglewood Estate for their ceremony and reception. Jayde tells, ”It is a truly stunning building with enough personality on its own, so we chose to enhance its raw beauty with simple florals and some live music to welcome our guests. Megan Watson, our celebrant, was incredible and we were so grateful to have her to walk us through our vows (and our nerves!). Nick’s mum, Jane, also did a reading for us.”

Photographer Jerome Cole Photography captured the day beautifully. Jayde shares, ”Jerome was incredible. When we first met him at his studio in Collingwood we were immediately at ease and impressed by his ability to create some very special artistic images but also capture the candid photos of those moments you never want to forget. It wasn’t until after the wedding that we realised just how perfect our choice was, because not only do you want your photos to be special but you also spend most of the wedding day with your photographer, and Jerome is so much fun to work with!” Of their many vendors, Jayde says, ”They were all so incredible to work with, we were very lucky. A lot of the recommendations came from Tanglewood Estate who had vetted them from other weddings and recommendations so this certainly helped us a lot in finding them all.”

Sunset at Tanglewood Estate provided the goods, with the bride telling, ”My favourite image is taken at night on the lake. Jerome Cole Photography and my gorgeous bridesmaid Emma who is also a photographer had created the idea together. I have great memories of wanting to laugh at them whilst being told to stay perfectly still for a time lapse shot. It was also a great excuse to disappear for a few minutes from the party with Nick and spend some time together.”

There was no doubt Jayde and Nick’s wedding would be at Tanglewood Estate. They tell, ”Friends of ours had purchased and renovated the venue and we had been there together not so long ago marveling in the stunning spaces they had created. It also was a perfect location as we both have strong ties to the Mornington Peninsula.” In planning their decor and styling, Jayde was hoping for a mixture of country and city, rustic and clean. She shares, ”We are both very connected to both the city and the country so we made a point to bring some modern florals and decor to the stunningly rustic setting at the beautiful Tanglewood Estate.”

Florist Poppy Culture was enlisted to decorate the estate, with Jayde telling, ”The flowers were important! To tie the modern city vibe into our rustic setting, we worked with Lauren to create the main feature of hanging snapdragons from the wagon wheels on the ceiling. My favourite detail was the hanging snapdragons. Lauren and the Poppy Culture team did an incredible job at what must have been a very hard task of getting them all up there!” Miss Ladybird Cakes whipped up a gorgeous three tier cake, and Woolshed Imaging captured the day on film.

Showing their appreciation for their family and friends, the bride and groom made sure to thank each of their loved ones following their wedding. Jayde says, ”We hand wrote each guest a letter thanking them for being a part of our special day and personalizing it as to why it was so special to have them there. It certainly was a huge undertaking but it was a wonderful way after the wedding to really reflect on how many special relationships we have and how lucky we were to have them there.”

Thank you to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your wedding day, and congratulations! Thank you also to Jerome Cole Photography and Woolshed Imaging for sharing your images.
