The beautiful blush, rose and marsala tones in the wedding of Kimberley and Corey had us smitten from the get-go, and then? We heard their stories, we saw their smiles and we knew this one was a definite must share!

Captured by House Of Lucie the pair designed a day that, in the bride’s words was “Simple, elegant and romantic – the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We didn’t really follow a theme as such; instead, we tried to keep it true to who we are as a couple.” With the Brisbane River as their backdrop, and their favourite people surrounding them, it was always going to be something super special.

It was in their hometown of Mackay that these two met, making a long distance relationship to Brisbane work until Corey made the big move himself. The end result? A memorable proposal with a very special ring! Kimberley shares the tale.  “We had travelled back to Mackay to spend the Christmas period with our families. When I was growing up my family would often spend the afternoon down at Black’s Beach to kick the footy around and have some fish and chips – something my Dad suggested we should do again for old time’s sake. I was totally oblivious to any special plans (mostly just excited to feast on some hot chips!) and when my family members decided to ‘take a walk’, leaving Corey and I alone, I still didn’t suspect a thing. All of a sudden I was surprised with a beautiful antique ring, which had belonged to my great-grandmother once upon a time. It instantly brought tears to my eyes – I was so overjoyed and it was such a special moment. It was great to have my family there to celebrate with afterwards – we enjoyed some champagne and got some lovely photos at sunset.”

The groom and groomsmen wore navy suits from  Peter Jacksons. Complete with polka dot ties.

It was the lace on her When Freddie Met Lilly gown that led the bride to fall in love with it. She explains “I absolutely loved my dress from When Freddie Met Lily, a local boutique here in Brisbane. As soon as I saw the bold lace pattern on the sample dress, I was instantly drawn to it. I had the dress custom made to add sleeves to suit our winter wedding and some other features; I was so pleased with the finished product and felt that it was very ‘me’. I just wanted to be true to my own style and to be comfortable on the day, which I feel I achieved.”

Blush and raisin blooms were styled by Roberta of Green & Bloom. Kimberley telling “We chose burgundy peonies, deep red and cream roses, ivy berry and assorted foliage to create what Roberta likes to refer to as ‘moody blooms’. Roberta went above and beyond, working back late and making sure that every detail was perfect. She has such an eye for aesthetics and her styling is so gorgeous.”

The bride was played down the aisle by a live guitarist playing the bride’s favourite song. Kimberley shares “My Dad, Gary, walked me down the aisle while an acoustic guitarist played one of our favourite songs, ‘Yellow Leadbetter’ by Pearl Jam. This song has special significance to my dad and I. It was a very special and memorable moment.”

Kimberley and Corey chose Pauline Harland as their celebrant. “We wanted our ceremony to be somewhat traditional, but we also wanted to keep it simple. We felt so comfortable with our wonderful celebrant, Pauline Harland, which was important to both of us. We wrote our wedding vows ourselves and coincidentally they fit perfectly together – we both made each other laugh and it felt so personal.”

The couple chose the Brisbane river, particularly Riverlife, Kangaroo Point for their wedding, noting “We chose Riverlife at Kangaroo Point. It was a great location – the ceremony took place in the parklands overlooking the Brisbane river, which was a short walking distance down from the reception. There are so many wonderful photo opportunities, so it was great to not have to stray far from our guests. The reception was held in the ‘Sunset Marquee’ where we had a live band and amazing food, with a beautiful backdrop of the city lights reflected on the river.”

The couple loved the work of their photographer, Kimberley sharing “Khara from House of Lucie is a dear friend of mine from Mackay. We have so many memories together on and off the netball court – she never fails to make me laugh. I knew immediately that I wanted her to photograph our wedding, and boy am I glad we did! She made us feel so comfortable and I loved having a friend with us on the day. She is so talented and every single photo is stunning.”

Kimberley and Corey made their debut on the dance floor to “Adore” by Amy Shark. The dance floor continued thanks to living music by Reece Freeman. “Live music was important to us both for the atmosphere and we were so happy with Reece Freeman and his band. We also loved having Corey’s uncle Paul as our MC, who did a fantastic job and really personalised it for us. There were a lot of personal touches that meant a lot to me on the day – my Tiffany perfume was a gift from Corey, my beautiful Samantha Wills earrings were a gift from my sister, and of course I had my great grandmother’s ring with me” tells the bride.

A big congratulations to you both Kimberley and Corey! We’re so honoured to share your stories today. Thank you to House Of Lucie for sharing today’s beautiful images!
