Andrea & Kevin

Combining the green gardens and urban streets of Melbourne, today’s wedding is both lusciously light and wonderfully rich, with joy in every little detail! Throwing a party for their nearest and dearest, our bride and groom wanted a modern and simple day which was perfectly captured by Christian Marc Photography.

The couple met through the bride’s cousin at a birthday party. Andrea shares, ”The moment we began chatting, we realised the flow was instant and easy. Fast forward a few months later where we found ourselves at another party! I found Kevin peacocking, going so far as to zap himself on the electric fence! We planned our first romantic date, with Callum (the best man). The ultimate third wheel!” The groom proposed on a surprise trip to Japan, complete with a hike up Mount Fuji. The bride remembers, ”I was in total shock when I found myself hiking up Mount Fuji to celebrate my birthday with a monumental sunrise. As the sun began to rise, Kevin took me aside to see the crater. The view was beyond spectacular and made all our efforts worthwhile. The whole experience was overwhelming and my mind was blown by the beauty of it all, I turned around to find my man down on one knee. In pure shock I blurted, ‘No, what are you doing!?’ Maybe this was because we were totally spaced out by the lack of oxygen, or the fact it was all just too amazing to be real life! We knew the soothing Onsen hot springs were awaiting us, although we were pretty shocked when we found ourselves sweaty, exhausted and completely butt naked with our entire mountain crew. A surreal way to end a surreal trip!”

Gorgeously crisp and modern, Andrea found her gown at One Day Bridal. She shares, ”It was one of the final gowns tried on during my fitting and something that wasn’t initially thought to be picked. It was figure hugging and displayed all the right curves. My mum passed on a handkerchief that was given to her on her wedding day.” The groom and best man were individually styled by The Cloakroom.

A perfect Spring day in the city allowed the couple’s chosen venue to shine! They tell, ”To capture the beauty of Melbourne’s garden life we chose the Janet Lady Clarke rotunda. It was easy to access and also facilitated good seating, shelter and a stunning backdrop.” The flower arbour and signage were draped with blooms from Victoria Whitelaw, the bride sharing, ”Through consultation she took on my vision for pastel flavoured bouquets and greenery for the ceremony.”

Both Andrea and Kevin were thrilled with their officiant, Matt Finch. They share, ”The ceremony was finely curated with his help. He spent quality time talking through our history and lives to date to finalise our ceremony script. We had a personalised reading from a close friend on her view of us and love. It was beautifully written and delivered!” The bride walked down the aisle with her father to ‘Come Away With Me’ by Norah Jones.

Surprising Andrea, Kevin had his long hair cut short on the morning of their wedding. She remembers, ”I had organised for him to get it styled in preparation for the ceremony. Little did I know that he had it all taken off. I walked down the aisle in shock at his new short hair cut! He kept the hair he had taken off and donated it to those struggling with cancer. He still melts my heart everyday with his kindness.”

Having Christian Marc Photography capture their day was a choice well made! The newlyweds share, ”Christian and Sharni were absolutely amazing. They invested time and energy into helping create such an amazing day. We met via Skype and then in person before the wedding. The advice they provided grounded our mindset in the lead up to the wedding. We took time to breathe deep and savour every moment based on their guidance and advice provided earlier. The photographers and celebrant blew us away! The time and energy invested really made our day easier and is evident through the outstanding feedback from our guests and photos taken on the day.”

A firm family favourite, Ladro, provided the perfect location for Andrea and Kevin’s reception. They tell, ”The food is always amazing and we love the cool and modern interior. It was an intimate reception location which was perfect for all our loved ones to be close together enjoying the best things in life. Both Kevin and I wanted to make sure everyone had lots of good food, drinks and fun to celebrate our big day. We made sure to organise some thongs for all the girls to kick the heels off and have a good time on the dance floor.”

Choosing her favourite aspect of wedding planning, the bride says, ”Spending time and sharing ideas with my future husband. It brought us closer and also allowed us to keep each other in check if we ever became overwhelmed. We shared excitement over the little details planned or booked.”

Putting the final touches on their day, Andrea tells of her mother’s creativity, ”My mum is the DIY queen! She crafted wire figures each customised for our guests to take home. She also designed large wire flowers for our arbour and worked closely with the florist. My mum with the help of family also made the balloon feature for our bridal table backdrop. With Kevin being a lover of Lego he also wanted to take part in wedding preparations and made individual lego figurines for each guest with a name card. We danced to ‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ by The Steelers. A classic song which embodied our fun for life and each other. We took a few dance lessons to get the moves down and practised when ever we could before the big day.”

Remembering to make the most of every moment, the newlyweds soaked up their day! They share, ”Kevin and I, at the end of the night, we snuck away from the reception to have a real uh hah moment. We are MARRIED. We were standing outside a local bar. The photograph in front of the the pawn shop is one of our favourites.”

A big thank you to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your joy filled day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to Christian Marc Photography for your beautiful images!
