Choosing a wedding florist can be hard, with so many beautiful blooms and so much inspiration out there, it can get a little overwhelming! Fortunately this week on Behind the Door, I’m chatting with someone who believes that it all comes down to passion – Rebecca Nobel from Little Lady Blooms.

Bec started Little Lady Blooms three years ago but says that this year it has really flourished!

Growing up in the wild New Zealand country side, Bec was delighted to find that working with flowers makes her feel very connected to the environment and reminds her of home. “I wanted to share my passion and love for creativity with others” says Bec “I get such a kick out of making something original and epic for my clients”.

The studio is located in East Brunswick in Melbourne’s trendy inner north, but Bec says Little Lady Blooms also loves to travel. This is the space where Bec meets clients, cleans flowers, orders stock and creates beautiful blooms with the help of her floral obsessed staff.

When I ask Bec what she loves most about the neighbourhood she says ” My next door neighbour Vito the hairdresser, he has been there for 30 years and is the essence of what it means to be a community”.  Bec loves all the people who stop by for a chat and just to look in the window and see what she is up to – and even sometimes does the odd little pop up posy sale.

Bec has fitted out the studio herself with some gorgeous vintage pieces, shelves full of her ever expanding collection of vases and luxury silk ribbons. I love the pink wall as a bright pop of colour, it really sets the tone that this is a florist who isn’t afraid to be a little daring!

Little Lady Blooms love getting creative when it comes to wedding flowers. Bec says her flower choices are influenced by shape, texture and seasonality and that she loves the uniqueness of locally grown blooms.

Known for making stunning bouquets, arbours and table centrepeices, Bec says her absolute favourite pieces to create are wild installations. “I love getting to create something BIG” says Bec “It’s just so fun to watch a shed, or a wooden beam, hall or ball room being changed into a wonderland of flowers”.

I love that one of the reasons Bec loves what she does is how it works with her family. ” It’s important to me that my daughter understands that having a job is not just about a pay cheque, it’s about working hard at something that makes you smile and knowing that you can achieve great things when you set your mind to it” says Bec.

“I also love the flexibility of my work and being able to make decisions for myself is awesome!!”. If you are looking for a super passionate florist in Melbourne, I think many lucky brides have found one in Little Lady Blooms!

Ms Zebra Says: WOW! What a divine business, built from passion and love! It must be the best feeling creating beautiful floral designs and constantly working with beauty! Thanks Amelia for sharing with us!
