Persia & Randall
There is a lot to be said for a wedding of beautiful, classic beauty and for Persia and Randall, their relaxed, seaside location of Sydney’s Northern beaches combined with elegant details (that ballgown!) and beautiful tones of blush and raspberry were the most beautiful way to celebrate the next big step. With Heart and Colour behind the camera and the crew at Audrey and Angus on hand to plan and make sure everything ran smoothly, it was a day that didn’t just honour the pair’s love of the water, but also was utterly and completely “them”.
It seems it was always meant to be for these two, their first day quickly turning into three before Randall proposed at Watsons Bay. Persia fills us in. “We had three dates in a row, three consecutive days in a row! The first was at a small bar in the city for a post-work drink, the next day we were both at a mutual friend’s house party (we didn’t know we would both be there until just prior), and the third was a wander around one of Sydney’s pop up food markets at the Rocks. A magical time in our lives. Sometime later we were having a beautiful picnic at Macquarie Lighthouse at Watsons Bay to celebrate my 30th birthday (at least that’s what I thought), but Randall took the opportunity to get down on one knee. Pure bliss!”
The day kicked off at the beautiful Lucinda Park, Palm Beach. The bride explaining “We wanted a wedding that was by the ocean/water because we both love the ocean (we live at North Bondi) and also love to surf together. One of our first surfs together was in that area, Sydney’s northern beaches. As a nod to this, we held our ceremony outdoors at Lucinda Park, Palm Beach.”
The day was filled with floral arrangements in tones of blush and raspberry created by Down the Garden Path Botanical Studio. Persia remembers “She did the most spectacular job with the colours and created the most perfect ‘structured-yet-unstructured’ bouquets. Simply stunning!”
Persia donned a beautiful strapless ballgown by Karen Willis Holmes for the day, remembering “Despite being a beachside wedding, we still wanted to look our absolute best for the occasion, so the style we were going for is ‘Classic/Chic Beachside’ wedding, hence the wonderful ballgown and Randall’s bespoke tuxedo.”
Persia and Randall chose the waterside venue of Moby Dicks for their wedding reception, the bride noting “We both wanted to make sure our guests were well taken care of, in every way. We made sure there were drinks to enjoy straight after the ceremony, a bus to transport guests from the ceremony to the reception. We are both big on food and wine, and we know from experience that the Boathouse Group offer high-quality food and wine, which is one of the reasons we chose Moby Dicks as the venue for the reception. The staff at Moby Dicks are attentive, genuine and talented, and made sure everyone had a full plate and a full glass the entire evening. We also wanted to maximise time on the dance floor, and had a surprise for our guests post-dinner (whiskey behind the bar!).”
A “Sofreh” at the reception honoured the bride’s Persian background, who explains “With Persia being of Persian descent, we honoured that by having a traditional a Persian ‘sofreh’ set up at the reception. This is little table-top display that includes a mirror (symbolising ‘light’ and purity), four candelabras with candles, flower (symbolising beauty and life), a book of poetry by Rumi, and various other symbolic items. All items are perfectly placed on the table so that they are well-integrated, and in harmony (to symbolise a harmonious marriage).”
Persia’s biggest advice to future couples is to narrow down what’s important to you. She shares “Try to focus on details that are important to you both, and don’t stress or spend too much time on minor details that people will not remember on the day! Be open to challenging wedding traditions (for example, we did our first dance before dinner was served). Make the day your own!”
