Happy Monday Dotties! A big happy May to you!

It’s the last month of Autumn and we’re well into The Green Issue on Polka Dot Bride! If being green is important in your life, check out all the different ways you can care for our planet at your wedding. It need only be a small change – but every little bit helps! Take a look at our Polka Dot Directory which is filled with vendors who might have other ‘green’ ideas!! We have Entertainment, we have Photography, we have Catering and Cakes – we even have Bridesmaids Gowns and Hair & Beauty!

Check out the Polka Dot Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!

The surrounds of the Opera House, the star spangled sky or the majestic rock face with a waterfall all give a sense of time and place to harustudio’s John and Iku’s images. They add to the story of your day giving the images a perspective so that when you look back at them, you’ll remember just what the weather was like, the sounds, the sights and your loved ones that surrounded you, and the feeling of this most special of days. These are the details that slip away from memory and yet are so important, recording the magic of your day for future generations to marvel at.

We asked John and Iku at harustudio five questions in five minutes:

What is the most important piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?

So many to choose from, but the biggest thing for couples planning their wedding is to listen to anyone who has advice — but choose what is most important for you and follow your heart. Write down what is most meaningful for the two of you and stick it on the fridge, that way when you’re in the thick of it you’ve always got a guiding star.

Tell us about a hidden talent you have?

We both love our personal projects, and we both love storytelling, but in different ways. John makes documentary films and right now Iku is working on a children’s book.

As a vendor, what excites you about the wedding day?

Just being part of the best day of two people’s lives! And all photographers want their work to matter, and we’re lucky to be able to make photos that will be deeply meaningful to multiple generations of people.

What are you known for?

Making photos that are honest and tell a story, that are vibrant and colourful and full of life, and organises a moment of chaos into a frame. And we bring good vibes!

If you could choose a song to play for the rest of your life what would it be?

Fwoaar, that’s a difficult question! When we got married Iku walked down the aisle to Ben Harper’s She’s Only Happy In the Sun, and instead of a reading we had John’s sister sing Nick Cave’s Into My Arms. Ten years on we still feel all the feels for those two songs 🙂
