Personalising gifts for your guests is a super easy thing to do and these sweet clay initial ornaments are the loveliest little present for your nearest and dearest! Perfect for all guests, bridal showers or the kiddies table (hello Christmas in July!), you can customise these tags with initials, names, shapes and colours.

These personalised wedding favours will last forever, and are so much fun to make! Hunt down some cutters that suit your engagement party or wedding day theme and get stamping! This wedding DIY is fast and easy!

What You Will Need:

  • An oven – no way round this! If you’re stuck, find a friend who is willing to share their kitchen
  • Polymer clay – Sculpey brand is readily available from Spotlight
  • Cookie cutter shapes  – you can also free hand cut simple shapes like diamonds
  • Initial stamps
  • Twine
  • Rolling pin
  • Skewer or tooth pick
  • Baking paper, cutting board and baking tray

Step 1. Unwrap the clay and warm it up in your hand, making it a little more malleable. Lay one sheet of paper down, and place the clay on it. Place another piece of paper over the top, and roll out the clay to approximately one quarter of an inch. If you get wrinkles in the clay, remove the paper for one last smoothing roll.

Step 2. Place your chosen cutters on top of the clay and firmly press out the shape. One block of clay doesn’t stretch too far, so you may need to reshape and reroll for each cut.

Step 3. Place all of your shapes on a sheet of baking paper and onto on an oven tray. Using the letter stamps, stamp an initial onto each clay cutout. Using a wooden skewer or toothpick, make a hole in the top of the shape for your twine,

Step 4. Bake the shapes following the instructions on the packet. Once they have cooled down, cut pieces of twine (or ribbon), threading it onto each cutout. These sweet gifts can be displayed on each table setting, hanging on a wishing tree, or even used as a personalised touch tied on the top of a bridesmaid gift. They even look gorgeous tied around a wee succulent plant or used as a table setting decoration!
