Claudette & Phil

New Year’s Eve, an urban pub. A fabulous tassel dress. Meet Claudette and Phil. This combination just about sums up their day, it was relaxed, it was a massive celebration and it included all of their wishes for a perfect day.

They invited Ingrid Coles along for the ride, and we’re delighted to see this day unfold.

The pair, who first met at a birthday party became engaged in their garden, with a very special speech from the groom. Claudette fills us in.  “Phil took me to our garden where we planted some seeds of my favourite flower. I remember him telling me that he would want nothing more than to spend the rest of his life watering this plant and watching it grow. As the plant needs basic things in order to grow, so will our relationship and he promised to say I love you every day, never leave the house without a kiss goodbye (even when we argue), always be honest and true and make me laugh for the rest of my life.”

With a dream to look stylish and yet be comfortable, Phil headed to Politix for his wedding day look.

The bride had her heart set on a beautiful Jack Sullivan tassel wedding gown and persisted until it was hers! “My dress was from a local designer Jack Sullivan. It was originally a one-off dress designed for 2017 Mercedes Fashion Week and not intended as a wedding dress but I fell in love with its uniqueness. I recall seeing this Gatsby inspired dress on a rack off to the side and asking the assistant if I can try it on. I was quickly made aware that there is only one and it was made for the model that wore it but I pushed ahead regardless. I kept whispering please let it zip, please let it zip and to my relief, it fit perfectly!”

Of their chosen photographer, the bride explains “I have has been following her on Instagram for a while. Her high fashion shoots were the perfect combination of moody edgy yet fun and bright. She was very relaxed and completely got our vision within 10 short minutes. The images speak for themselves, she is extremely talented and highly recommended.”

Bright and beautiful pink blooms were carried by Claudette, styled by The Lush Lilly. “The Lush Lilly at Loganholme comes highly recommended” shares Claudette. “I wanted big, bright with some earthy natives for the bridal bouquet. Phil requested something small and simple to match his blue and white colour scheme.
Without even saying too much, they captured our vision and delivered the most beautiful arrangements. We couldn’t have been happier with what they delivered.”

It was a delight for Claudette and Phil to hold their wedding at urban pub Electric Avenue JR

“Electric Avenue JR was amazing. We had a set budget and they just made everything fit. They went above and beyond to make our day special. Delicious food with a vintage, eclectic vibe. They have this awesome cupboard upstairs.” The couple choosing hidden Canvas for their ceremony. “Once you push past the clothing you discover this intimate whiskey bar. Was an absolute hit for kids and grown-ups alike.”

Claudette was walked down the aisle to Well Pennies “Wedding Song” by her sons Hayden and Xavian.

Of their ceremony, Claudette remembers “It was a Christian ceremony with traditional vows. We were blessed enough to have our Citipointe Pastor Tim McDonald conducting our ceremony. We both did, however, add in our own short “vows” to one another for a personal touch.”

Bucking tradition, the newlyweds did not have a traditional first dance, instead, they twirled and danced in front of their venue, just after they were pronounced as married.

Cocktails, drinks, burgers and cheese were on the menu. “We just really wanted everyone to relax and enjoy a night out with dinner and drinks on us” explains the bride.

The newlyweds were delighted to have a dear friend make their wedding cake. “Our cake was lovingly made by our friend Chantelle White. She is amazingly talented and everyone commented on how delicious and beautiful it was.”

“We loved planning it together as a team” shares Claudette of her and Phil’s favourite part of the planning. “Incorporating and listening to one another’s thoughts/suggestions. We both had a say and kept it simple.”

A big congratulations Claudette & Phil! thanks for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Ingrid Coles for sharing today’s beautiful wedding day!
