Sarah & Lach

If a wedding with bright coloured walls, blow up flamingos, the brightest of blooms and a ceremony by a pool sounds like it’s your kind of jam then Sarah and Lach’s wedding is going to be right up your alley. The pair, decided that with most of their favourite memories on Bali’s shores, what better place to tie the knot? And in luxe tropical style, they did! Oh and can we talk about the groom’s dapper green suit? Just the inspo we need for The Suit Issue!

And just like everything else with this wedding, the photographs were a complete team effort. The amazing Jess Nicholls captured the day in all of its vibrant colour, and then Beck Rocchi Photography set about editing them all to show off their beauty.

After meeting through mutual friends, Lach popped the question on a weekend visit to the Gold Coast. Sarah shares “We were staying with Lach’s little brother, Ben for the weekend in his two-bedroom beach shack in Nobby’s on the Gold Coast. After days of changed plans, Lach was getting more and more nervous to pluck up the courage to ask.

On the Sunday morning after a late night and quite a few sneaky cocktails (on my behalf), Lach woke me up at 5 am wanting to go for a walk. I thought he was crazy! It was pitch black outside so I said we would go once the sun came up – totally oblivious! After 2 hours of him pacing up and down the tiny little unit I finally got up and we went for a walk. By this stage I knew something was up – Lach had been stuttering the whole weekend which he does when he is nervous (or extremely drunk) and just hadn’t been himself!

We headed up the North Burleigh hill and once we got to the lookout, he waited until no one else was around and dropped the knee, pulling out the biggest ring box I’ve ever seen out of his pants (how I didn’t notice, I have no idea). He was so nervous no words came out, just was nodding his head, and of course, I said YES!”

As a destination wedding, it was important for these two that their wedding felt like a holiday, Sarah telling “Having our closest family and friends to celebrate and everyone being relaxed and in holiday mode was our favourite. We had events before and after so it was more a wedstival of Lach and Sarah.”

Michelle Von Pein Design handpainted invitations for the couple, Sarah remarking “I loved every detail of our wedding! The people, food, band, lighting, floristry really set the scene but I do believe my gorgeous little flower girls stole the show! I also loved our hand painted invites by Bonnie Gray that my sister in law, Michelle from MVPdesign bought to life on an invite!”

Beautiful private villa, The Cotton House Bali set the scene for the outdoor celebrations. Sarah shares “We always wanted to have a Bali wedding because some of happiest memories together are when we travel to Bali. We had looked at a few other venues including some in Australia but when we stumbled across The Cotton House, really by chance, as soon as we walked in we knew it was perfect!”

Flora Botanica styled bold and beautiful floral details. “Our flowers were insane! I just threw caution to the wind and told the florists to go big and bright with lots of greenery… they were so incredible in real life- better than I could have imagined!”

The garden was packed with fun details, even though some didn’t go to plan! “I attempted to create a San Pellegrino water station” remembers Sarah. “The day before the wedding I tied stripey straws to the bottles of sparkling with twine, we were hoping for 70 but ended up with about 30 after buying the whole of Seminyak out of San Pells. We also added ‘scattered with love’ stickers to our confetti poppers! Em, our wedding planner (from Long Table Events) took over from there! It made for a very relaxing wedding day which we loved.”

Sarah walked down the aisle with her father to Angus & Julia Stone’s “The Wedding Song”, a favourite of the bride’s.

Although the setting was untraditional, it was important to Sarah and Lach that the ceremony felt traditional. “We had a local priest marry us in a more modern religious ceremony. We wrote our own vows which had the tears flowing!”

Sarah chose her off the shoulder Chosen By One Day gown at Sphere Collective. “I bought it from Sarah at Sphere Collective – by far my favourite store! ” tells the bride. “Sarah was beyond amazing – sending me 100’s of dresses and options trying to help me find the perfect dress in the lead up to the wedding. I am the worlds most indecisive person and only ordered the dress eight weeks prior to the wedding. My dress arrived days before we flew out. Thank goodness for Sarah, she bent over backwards to get my perfect gown to me on time!”

Oh their photographer, Sarah raves “She went over and above for our wedding (flying to Bali). She knew exactly what vibe and how we wanted our photos to look and we honestly have the most incredible images! I think one of the best things was she made our groomsmen feel really comfortable, they commented on how cool she was and that there was no awkwardness at all which they were all worried about having the spend the day being in front of the camera! She was also totally cool with jumping on the back of a random Balinese man’s motorbike to get the shots we wanted! Jess is fun, chilled out and absolutely hilarious! We loved her! She fitted right into our craziness. She was everywhere and nowhere, she seemed to camouflage into the wedding but didn’t miss a shot!”

Planning their wedding from Australia, Sarah and Lach enlisted Long Table Events to bring their day to life. A decision Sarah wholeheartedly adores. She explains “All of my Vendors were amazing! Emma from Long Table Events really did most of the search and booking for me! She was a dream!”

“The theme for our wedding was “Tropical Luxe,” tells Sarah. “We wanted to create a really fun, colourful and relaxed vibe to reflect our relationship and personalities. We really just wanted to throw a big wedstival of love!”

“Our first dance was magic!” remembers Sarah of her and Lach’s choice to debut their dance floor moves to The Paper Kites “Bloom”.

Can’t get enough of Sarah and Lach? You gotta see their wedding film!

A big congratulations on your marriage Sarah and Lach! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your day with us. Thank you also to Jess Nicholls for sharing today’s celebration.
