Hilary & Nick
When a wedding involves brunch and a bush dance, I’m pretty sure it’s a mandatory good time. For Hilary and Nick, they invited their guests along to their favourite local park, served up decadent breakfast treats (like mini croissants and danish pastries, alongside bliss balls and frittatas) and celebrated with a bush band putting on the best live music they could have hoped for. This was a wedding that celebrated the nature of Australia, time honoured traditions, a day in the park, and each other.
Luckily for us, they invited The Milestone Studio along to capture every handmade and sweet inspired detail! This wedding is packed with ideas for those of you who would rather celebrate your nuptials by daylight!
In keeping with the causal, no fuss vibe of the day, the bride found her gown online at Etsy store Xiaolizi. She tells “I found my dress on Etsy! I was really keen on something simple and cool for a Perth summer wedding, and was so happy to find a style I felt comfortable in.”
Of their photographers, the bride tells “Both Tammie and John are fantastic, professional and talented photographers. They understood the relaxed atmosphere of our day and captured some very special moments. We’re so impressed with the photos they took, particularly given the tricky conditions with dappled sunlight in the morning and strong Perth light during the day! They helped us feel at ease throughout, and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough.”
Hilary and Nick walked to their ceremony together, each then walking down the aisle with their respective parents.
Hilary and Nick chose the beautiful tree filled Whiteman Park for their wedding, sharing “We love visiting Whiteman Park and always feel happy and at home there. It’s a beautiful, natural part of Perth and we knew it would be perfect for a morning ceremony and reception. We were keen to choose somewhere we can return to in the coming years, and we can’t wait to go back on our anniversary and relive the memories of the day!”
Sandy The Celebrant performed official duties for the day. “We wanted a relaxed but memorable ceremony. We wrote our own vows, and our celebrant did a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and included. We found a really special location under the trees at Whiteman Park, and it made for a beautiful intimate ceremony.”
Even though the wedding was in the morning, there had to be cake! So Hilary and Nick made one! “We made a traditional fruit cake with homemade marzipan icing. It took a few practice runs, but it was really satisfying to serve homemade cake to our guests. We also had homemade lime marmalade for our guests to take home.”
Guests enjoyed an amazing brunch spread catered by Griffin Catering. The delights including all kinds of mini croissants, danish pastries, doughnuts, bliss balls, frittatas and sandwiches alongside a grazing table of fresh fruit, honeycomb, berry compotes, coconut cups, granola and yoghurt.
Marquees lined with handmade bunting gave a little relief from the 38 degree Perth day.
With the idea of a bush dance firmly in their minds, music was of the utmost importance to the newlyweds, who chose Numguts Bush Band to make their vision come to life.”Our live band was one of the first decisions we made about the wedding” tells Hilary. “The Numguts Bush Band really helped to set the scene for the day, and kept everyone entertained throughout the morning. We included our family in our first dance, and chose the ‘Gallopede’ to begin married life.”
Congratulations Hilary and Nick! What a joy it was to share your day! Thank you to The Milestone Studio for sharing today’s gorgeous celebration.
