Prue & Brendan

Tasked with bringing the country to the city, talented wedding planners threw a stunningly rustic yet modern celebration for Prue and Brendan! With wheat from last years harvest from the farm decorating the clear walled reception and glossy copper and textural pendants hanging from above, this romantic day brought the two worlds together with style. Bianca Kate Photography captured the day.

Meeting at the age of 17 through mutual friends, Prue and Brendan became engaged years later on the family farm. The bride remembers, ”After a morning of work we decided to take our lunch up the big rock the property surrounds and has a beautiful view from the top. Once at the top and admiring the view I turned around to find Brendan on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hands asking me to marry him. Safe to say our dog Poppy had happily eaten our lunches whilst we were distracted!”

Visiting from the country to try on gowns was made easy by Tuscany Bridal in Perth. Prue shares, ”The experience with the store from start to finish was enjoyable and faultless. They happily arranged fittings and appointments for when I was in Perth. It was one of the dresses I had picked out online that I liked and wanted to try. Once I had tried it I knew that was the one. Jewellery was by Steven Khalil and my mum made my veil. As both my grandparents are not with us anymore, I had two charms on my bouquet with a picture of my Nan and Pop so they could be a part of my day.” The groom and groomsmen wore cream chinos with navy jackets with bowties.

The bride and groom were married in a traditional church, with flowers lining the aisle. For the ceremony they chose ‘A Thousand Years’ by The Piano Guys, with the bride sharing, ”My dad walked me down the aisle which was a very special moment.”

Flowers were a big feature of the day, especially at the reception. Prue tells, ”DUO Events Creative Studio created a modern farm style design for all the florals. They used muted tonal and textural flowers. Table centre pieces had sculptural branches and the florals looked like they had just naturally grown from the branches. Our bridal party flowers were really neutral and as we moved into the reception areas they added more earthy tones. The types of flowers used were toffee roses, white roses, white sweet peas, wheat from our farm, Scabiosa, dyed disbuds and andromeda’s.”

Capturing each moment of the day was Bianca Kate Photography. The bride shares, ”Bianca was such a joy to have with us on our special day. We clicked with her right from our first meeting and this was no different on our wedding day. I hate photos so having someone who made it stress less and fun was important. I let Bianca take full control in regards to locations for photos and of course she didn’t disappoint. Our photos were quick, fun, easy and relaxed.”

Leaving a lot of the creative elements to DUO Events Creative Studio, Prue and Brendan knew what they wanted the day to feel like. They remember, ”The atmosphere was to be laid back (not too flashy) – to be fun and just a good party! The theme was to bring a little bit of the country to the city. The style was to be natural and earthy with a colour palette of white, brown and sage green teamed with a flash of gold. The reception was held at Lamonts Bishops House. We chose Lamonts as we wanted a central venue whilst having some greenery and nature around. It was just perfect.”

Thrilled with the styling of the rustic and modern reception venue, the bride and groom enjoyed every detail. They tell, ”The wonderful ladies at DUO Events Creative Studio incorporated wheat from our previous years harvest, and an amazing backdrop to the band made out of old wool packs with our names and the dates of special moments ink stamped on each. They even hand sprayed the floating cloud like pendant lights at our reception! Our reception was probably our favourite. It was just more than we could ever have hoped for and was just perfect. Lamonts were amazing in making our reception run so smoothly and producing amazing food, drinks and service.”

Having a wedding planner to pull everything together made a world of difference for the newlyweds. They share, ”The amazing and talented ladies at DUO Events Creative Studio were the standout for us. They made all our dreams come true and exceeded our expectations of what we even thought was possible. They were so professional to work with and extremely organized. We had multiple meetings with them and frequent conversations over email and phone. As we live in the country it was not always possible to have face to face meetings but this was no issue at all as their communication skills are amazing. Our wedding design had multiple drafts which we changed and swapped and was always accompanied with a costings table. This was excellent as we were able to see what each element was costing and were able to make changes accordingly. Katie and Erica were so accommodating in regards to changing elements of the design to suit our budget or what we were happy to pay. Nothing was too much of a hassle or too much to ask. They made our wedding so enjoyable and we couldn’t thank them more for all they did.”

Thank you to our beautiful bride and groom for sharing your spectacular wedding day, and congratulations! Thank you also to Bianca Kate Photography for your love filled images.
