I cannot tell you how hard it has been to pick a favourite gown from the new “Fleur Sauvage” collection from French By Wendy Makin. They’re the kind of gowns you can see just as at home on the beach, as you can in a city street or a beautiful garden party (but for the record, I am pretty sure it’s a tie between the pearl button back of “Dahlia” pictured above and the romantic lace of long-sleeved beauty “Margeurite”).

French, the diffusion collection from the Australian designer lends itself to vintage romantic styling. The gowns are designed without a lot of boning and structure because they’re meant to be comfortable, easy to move in, to dance in, to marry in. “Fleur Sauvage” was inspired by the untamed beauty of wildflowers. The ability to find beauty, grow as beauty in the most unexpected of places. “The wildflower represents the modern woman. Her spirit is fierce, confident yet beautiful and free” tells the design team.

For the lover of romance – there’s floaty skirts, transparent overlays and sparkling beading, and then for the lover of the modern, of the minimal, there are the form-fitted gowns, with no adornment at all, letting their wearer do the talking.

“Fleur Sauvage” features that beautiful cross between the “delicate and the cold” delicate lace contrasting with sleek boat necklines, dreamy flounced sleeves next to deep scoop backs. It’s a collection of contrasts, and they’re just as beautiful as they sound.

As the designer says “The Fleur Sauvage collection captures the true essence of a Wendy Makin bride; sleek, elegant, and above all, effortless in style.”

“Fleur Sauvage” by French by Wendy Makin is available from the brand’s selected retailers now across Australia and New Zealand and launches in the UK at Harrogate Bridal Fair in September.
