Eileen & Phillip

After meeting in high school it was not until university that Eileen and Phillip finally realised they were meant to be. Today, we’re off to Sanctuary Cove for a beautiful wedding filled with classic romance. Beautiful blue bouquets, a breathtaking gown, and most of all- a couple who have found their way through life together. And after a year full of weddings, it is stories like theirs, that remain at the core of everything we do.

We’re thrilled to share this one with you, the talented (and so lovely) Kate of Quince & Mulberry capturing Eileen and Phillip’s story as it unfolded in every stunning, beautiful moment.

We’re handing over to the groom today, as Phillip shares the story of how he popped the question. “I proposed to Eileen when we were on a holiday in Switzerland’ Lauterbrunnen). I proposed inside our Airbnb cabin next to a fire.”

The groom chose a classic black suit, custom made by Institchu, telling “They were professional and prompt with the order. The suit fit and looked great for the day.”

Eileen’s amazing beaded gown was created for her by designer George Wu. Phillip tells  “It was designed and crafted over several months, but it was well worth it. The dress itself was beautiful and the bride was amazing wearing it.”

The couple made sure to include one very special four-legged friend, the groom explaining “We had to have our little pet dog attend our wedding, so we picked a venue that could accommodate him. Luckily Sanctuary Cove allowed us to do this and he walked down the aisle with the rings during the ceremony.”

Eileen and Phillip chose InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort for their big day, marrying in the chapel. “We picked Sanctuary Cove because of the beautiful glass chapel the venue offered along with the traditional reception venue” explains the groom. “Hope Island also wasn’t too far away from Brisbane so it wasn’t a long drive for our guests.”

Eileen walked down the aisle with her father to “Howls Moving Castle”v played live by a string quartet.

Eileen and Phillip chose Married By Jake to officiate their ceremony, telling “We wanted to keep our ceremony short and sweet. Married byJake did a great job at the wedding sermon and ceremony. We had a short reading from John from the Bible.”

“The kiss the bride moment was my favourite detail of the day” tells Phillip. “It was amazing to be married and all the work we put into making the day special was worth it. The reception, in general, was also amazing to make it feel like one big party.”

Eileen and Phillip actually held their wedding over multiple days, to space out the celebration, explaining “We did the traditional tea ceremony a day before our wedding to avoid being too tired. But the tea ceremony was special to acknowledge our Chinese culture and traditions.”

Beautiful blue bouquets were styled by Michelle Nessa Florist. “Michelle, our florist, picked out some beautiful flowers aligned with the theme and style of the wedding. She did a great job.”

Post ceremony, the couple headed off for portraits with their photographer, who they absolutely adored. Phillip raving “Kate from Quince and Mulberry was nothing but amazing. She was really helpful and took great pictures throughout the day. She wasn’t demanding and made us feel very natural and comfortable. Her photography style is amazing and that’s shown in the photos she took for the day.”

The resort didn’t just host the ceremony, but also the reception, allowing the couple to put their own spin on the day. “We tried to do as much DIY as possible to make it ‘our’ wedding” tells Phillip. ” We worked on a lot of the table decoration, place cards, and gifts.”

Eileen and Phillip took to the dance floor for their first dance, to an old favourite, Ben E, King’s “Stand By Me”.

And then the party really got started, thanks to the couple’s chose of live band Kommon Groove. Phillip remembering  “The band was beyond amazing. They managed to create such a good and happy vibe at the reception and sounded amazing!”

A big congratulation Eileen and Phillip! Thank you for sharing your beautiful stories with us. Thanks to the amazing Kate of Quince & Mulberry too for today’s stunning images!
