Allison & Tom

Overlooking the sea in Tasmania, Allison and Tom were married in contemporary style! Styled with blush coloured blooms and with modern coastal details, we adore this celebration! Doxa Visual captured every moment.

Meeting on their first day at university, Tom sealed the deal after time had passed by proposing with a picnic on the coast of Tasmania. A close family connection to the east coast of Tasmania meant this was not only the perfect location for a romantic proposal, but also for a warm springtime wedding!

Curating a contemporary and modern day, the bride found her gown at Lola Varma. She shares, ”I wanted something that looked timeless yet modern. I loved so many of the dresses but the main reason I went in there was because they had a polka dot veil that I loved. But after trying on the dress and then adding the belt, we I realised I didn’t need the veil. I still love that veil though…” Tom wore a Hugo Boss classic black suit with elegant tailoring.

The ceremony was held atop a hill overlooking the ocean, in the backyard of Avalon Coastal Retreat. Allison tells, ”We wanted it to be relaxed and reflect us. We had humour – I chose a reading from ‘Friends’ and we wrote our own vows. I feel it reflected our personalities perfectly. Lisa our celebrant did an amazing job putting it all together.” The bride walked down the aisle with her dad to ‘All Of Me’ by John Legend.

Keeping the flowers simple but gorgeous, the bride carried a single rose, while the bridesmaids each carried three. Allison remembers, ”I wanted very simple, classic flowers that were not meant to be a spectacle. Simple roses in the colour scheme of the wedding from Ash and Brad Bespoke. I also really wanted froze for our canape and Eleventy1st grazing table – but then it was such a hit, everyone kept drinking it for the duration of the night! Also we put inflatable toys on the dam so when guests went exploring there were some quirky elements to discover. My main focuses were on lots of delicious food, lots of delicious drink and beautiful surroundings and detail.”

Being able to walk down to the water at Great Oyster Bay was the perfect touch for Tom and Allison, both lovers of the sea. They share, ”We have always had a special connection to the east coast of Tasmania – growing up in Tasmania both our families used to holiday there. I would drive past Avalon Coastal Retreat constantly so when the opportunity came up to use it for our wedding venue it was a no brainer. We both love the water.”

Capturing the coastal light beautifully was photographer Doxa Visual. Allison tells, ”They were fantastic. So organised with the group and family shots. They really listened to the style and key shots we were looking for and nailed every single one. Ash and Brad Bespoke completely nailed the floral and styling brief, Lisa Haas, our celebrant, tailored it perfectly, and Big Smoke BBQ provided PLENTY of delicious food.”

Relaxed and modern, Ash and Brad Bespoke pulled together the styling beautifully. The bride and groom got handy too, sharing, ”We did our invitations, menu’s, oyster shell name places, welcome sign and other signs. I really enjoyed coming up with the little details that made it quirky to us and to show us as a couple. I feel like the colour scheme, the coastal elements and the attention to detail really made it custom to us. People after the day have said ‘it was very you’ which I think is the greatest compliment.”

Continuing the theme of a fun and relaxed day, the couple had their first dance to an acoustic version of ‘My House’ by Flo Rider. They tell, ”Tony Mak our guitarist was amazing! We wanted it to be fun and set the tone of the dance floor. Tom and I danced alone for the first verse and then our bridal party hit the dance floor for the chorus.”

Thank you to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to Doxa Visual for your stunning images!
