The brand new couture & ready to wear collection from Australian designer Wendy Makin is here and we can’t help but celebrate it. An Australian designer with over 30 years in the industry continually producing beautiful gowns? We’re all over it!

Wendy Makin’s 2019  collection is all about beauty, it’s Wendy’s chance to work one on one with brides and develop gowns that are individual to their wearers. It’s this foundation, of requests from the very people who walk down the aisle, that builds out the collection. And the results are stunning! There are beautiful silhouettes in this range, which show a return to classic bridal styling. “Monica” is a lace gown with cap sleeves minimal in design, because the stunning mikado fabric does all the talking,

My favourite “Astrid” above features a softly tapered silhouette, but an updated polka dot sleeve, which is floaty and whimsical.

And then there’s the “Ready to wear” collection which is slightly more pared back to allow these gowns to sit at a lower price point. Standouts here include “Miranda” a long sleeve, crepe fabric gown with a boat neck,(very Megan Markle), while “Charlene” features a pleated skirt with a low v neckline. “Azure ” and “Annie” resplendent in soft floral print organza for something statement.

It’s a nod to the classics and an honouring of time held beauty, and we could not think of anything more special as we enter a brand new decade.
