Happy Monday Dotties! It has been a really devastating week for so many across the world. We are continuing our work here at Polka land, continuing to shout out those vendors who need a helping hand, but we need your help too  – get  booking, get spending, help us drive revenue into our industry so these amazing talents can stay afloat!

This month is a transition month between the heat of summer and the coolness of winter. Some days are warm, while others are blustery and windy and even cold. Be prepared and don’t rely on the weather gods being kind. Have your back up plan! Explore our Polka Dot Directory – our wedding vendors are keen to help you. We have Cinematographers, we have Flowers, we have Cakes and Wedding Planners – we even have Entertainment and Catering!

Check out the Polka Dot Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!

Jewellery is always such a precious and sentimental item, and at Zoë Pook Jewellery the teamwork hard to create beautiful pieces that not only reflect your personal style through bespoke commissions, they also have a range of stunning rings that are made from “18ct white, rose or yellow Fairtrade gold, other recycled metals and in a variety of finishes and shapes.” Think diamonds, sapphires of brilliant colours, designs that add the wow factor and metals twisted into fluid lines. We love that Zoë is a pioneering supplier of “Fairmined and Fairtrade Certified Gold in Australia”, as well as ethically sourced gemstones. This added peace of mind that the gold, as well as the gems in your jewellery, are mined using world-leading and Fairtrade standards, makes your piece all the more special.

We asked Zoë from Zoë Pook Jewellery five questions in five minutes:

What is the most important piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?

There are no ‘rules’ to a wedding. Plan it your way! You don’t have to have matching rings / invite everyone / be driven to the event / wear a dress/suit / have flowers. Do what you both want.

Tell us about a hidden talent you have?
I am a master at knowing what the time is without looking at my phone or watch.

As a vendor, what excites you about the wedding day?
Having a hard deadline. I can be a terrible procrastinator, so I work best to a hard deadline!

What are you known for?
Making beautiful ethical jewellery (and my ability to buy gems when I don’t need them, I’m really good at it.)

If you could choose a song to play for the rest of your life what would it be?
Birdsong (is that too cheesy?… yes it is… sorry).
