Fran of Fran Jorgensen Photography is a storyteller with pictures. “Adventurous, un-posed and emotional wedding photography in the Mornington Peninsula for the unconventional Australian couples” is how she describes her style. She offers pre-wedding and engagement sessions in the Mornington Peninsula – what a great way to get to know your photographer and record the first important step in the path to getting married! Non-traditional weddings are her forte – think elopements and unusual venues, and she speaks fluent Spanish and French, so if you’re planning a wedding overseas in the future, she’s your woman.

We asked Fran from Fran Jorgensen Photography five questions in five minutes:

What is the most important piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?

I feel that the most important piece of advice would be to think a little harder on what makes you and your partner UNIQUE and incorporate those details on your wedding day. I am a big believer in owning your day and to it YOUR way and think twice when you feel that some traditions don’t go with who you are. The day goes too quickly so make sure that you take a few minutes to be really PRESENT and to forget about everyone else and concentrate on what brought you and your partner together.

Tell us about a hidden talent you have?

My hidden talent would have to be ocean rowing. Not sure if I am very talented at it, but it started as a way to challenge my fears, and smashing a boat against the waves is all kinds of amazing. I never thought I would enjoy such a challenge, but starting your day in the bay while everyone is sleeping and looking at the sunrise from the boat with my fellow rowing crew makes me feel alive and grateful for nature and for living in a city where I can practise this sport (even if I freeze my butt off in winter).

As a vendor, what excites you about the wedding day?

The adrenaline rush of that first look and seeing everything unfold during the ceremony, I get goosebumps every single time, and it’s always extra special to see all the emotions from the parents, especially when everyone is super connected and present in the moment and they forget about me.

What are you known for?

I hope I get known for being easy-going and easy to get along. I love genuine connection and I find incredible how this life can bring people together and how some key moments can be just coincidence. I love serendipity.

If you could choose a song to play for the rest of your life what would it be?

It has to be Better Together by Us the Duo, I am also a lover of great acoustic covers and chilling vibes.
