Bec & Andy

“We wanted the best of both worlds, so a traditional church ceremony then a relaxed/ romantic country boho style reception.” When it comes to getting married in the country, today’s wedding has to tick all the boxes. Two incredible gowns (designed by the bride with the help of D’italia) and an incredible location – Springhurst Butter Factory (which also happens to be the bride’s parents property!) and a beautiful story to go along with it. Bec and Andy really created a day that with all its black-tie modern beauty, was truly reflective of their love of life together and Shot from the Heart were there to capture it.

It was Tinder,  that led these two to meet, says Bec. “Andy and I first met when he picked me up on our first date after matching on tinder! He was a true (gentleman) from the moment he picked me up, knocking on the front door and then opening the car door for me.
It didn’t take long to realise we wanted to spend forever together and bought our house just 6 months later.” And it seems this country style is just what these two are made for, the setting also where Andy popped the question. “Andy proposed on the Murray River in Corowa while away visiting my parents for the weekend. It was really special to be able to celebrate with my family.”

“Andy went with a traditional tuxedo. I also surprised him with a watch he had always wanted on our wedding morning which he wore” remembers Bec.

Bec worked with D’Italia to design two beautiful wedding gowns. “I chose to have two dresses for the day. I seriously could have had five Haha, but I had a few different styles in mind so chose one for the church and another more comfortable style that suited the reception. I designed them both and had them made by an amazing dressmaker.”

Wren Florista styled beautiful floral arrangements of toffee coloured roses, white flowers and dried grasses for Bec’s vision. “I chose some toffee coloured roses and a lot of dried foliage to suit my boho theme. I liked the natural colours and have been able to keep a large arrangement which sits at the entrance of our house.”

Bec and Andy were married at St Patrick’s Church Wangaratta. Bec sharing “We chose St Patrick’s church because it was so grand and beautiful inside. I loved the traditional feel of walking down a long aisle with gorgeous stain glass windows.”

Bec walked down the aisle with her father to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In love”.

“We had a traditional catholic ceremony without a mass” tells Bec. “During the ceremony, the priest did a holding of the hands ceremony which was really sweet, he got us to hold hands and went on to talk about the many important life events we would support each other though.”

The newlyweds made sure to include one very special guest in their day – son Dom who had just turned one as these two tied the knot.

The couple loved their photographers. “Elle and Karen from Shot from the Heart were beyond amazing. I didn’t want to make a fuss with getting photos done or taking away any time from our reception to do this so having these ladies was perfect. They capture everything so naturally and they just fit into our day seamlessly.”

Then it was time to celebrate! Guests gathering for an evening reception (which included a gown change for Bec!) at  Springhurst Butter Factory “We had our reception at the Springhurst Butter Factory which is also home to my parents. It gave us a lot of flexibility to create a reception that suited us.”

That decor? All the work of the bride and groom! The bride revealing “I DIY’d everything!! The best was the candle holders for the tables. My husband made them all from brass tubing and plating which turned out exactly how I had hoped.”

Guests enjoyed cocktails (what custom swizzle sticks!) and a sit-down feast catered by High Country Food Co.  “Our caterers were amazing. All of the staff went above and beyond. They had just thought of everything from the presentation to kids’ packs. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough.”

If Bec had to say anything to couples yet to marry, she shares “Don’t be afraid to be non-traditional. Make the day however you think you will enjoy it the most, it does go incredibly quickly. I would also 100% recommend a videographer. We just want to live it over and over again.”

For their first dance, the couple danced to “Like I’m gonna lose you” by Megan Trainor. I love the words to this song and really believe in them.”The best part of the day for us was definitely our outdoor dancefloor. From the moment dinner finished until the end of the night the dancefloor was going off. The vibe was really relaxed and everyone was having a ball.”

A big congratulations Bec & Andy! What a joy it was to share your wedding day story! Thank you both and thank you to Shot from the Heart for sharing today’s celebration with us!
