Abbey & Tyler
It was a pair of Sharpei dogs that brought Abbey & Tyler together. “We met via Instagram. Although we do like to say through friends! Which it technically was haha. At least we got to internet stalk each other a little beforehand. We both had Shar-Pei dogs and seemed to be very similar so it was a perfect match!” Their romance blossomed and today? Thanks to beautiful photography by Wolf & Wildflower
we get to share a day that was beautifully boho in nature. There was an old ute converted to a cocktail bar, sparkling lights hung from tree to tree, and plenty of handmade details to adore. This is one you’re going to love!
The story of how Tyler proposed is already a winner to us – mainly because it involves butter chicken and cheese naan bread! Abbey fills us in. “I knew it was coming one day soon – but not on this particular afternoon! Tyler had to get it done before Christmas as he was afraid his mum would spill the beans.
We got takeaway Indian (my favourite – butter chicken and cheese naan) and headed down to the riverside at Lorn to have a relaxed afternoon in the back of his Ute. All seemed normal, I was covered in butter chicken, suspecting nothing out of the ordinary, as Tyler got a little quiet and asked – will you marry me? I was a little dumbfounded to start and looked down in his hands and saw the ring. Wow, this was it! I immediately said yes in excitement and placed my amazing Heidi Gibson ring on. It was so so perfect, made especially for me! We smiled, laughed, kissed, hugged, finished our dinner by sunset and drove around to see the Christmas lights. A perfect, unsuspecting proposal.”
The bride wore a Wilderly Bridal gown from Newcastle Bridal House. She shares ” I fell in love with this dress because of its beautiful bohemian style lace, the higher neckline and how amazingly comfortable it was! On the day I wore nude sandals, sentimental bracelets given to me from my Mum, and some pops of colour in my hair with flowers and clips.”
1969 Floristry styled the floral details, Abbey explaining “I let my florist run wild with my flowers – I gave her the brief of native & colourful. She nailed it! I loved all the venue flowers & my bouquet.”
Tyler donned a casual look, tells the bride. “Tyler kept it simple – dark teal chinos, a white shirt and suspenders with tan shoes. We wanted to keep it casual as he isn’t a suit wearer – it’s definitely not our style!”
These two chose to meet before their ceremony for a first look. Abbey sharing “Our first look photos in the bush have to be my favourite. The moment just before it was all about to become real!”
Abbey and Tyler add “We looked at a few venues, but struggled to find the perfect one where we could have a smaller amount of people, a casual vibe, and somewhere our dogs could be involved.
While all along the perfect venue was where I grew up, hidden under big gum trees and bracken fern. Mum and dad’s 4 1/2 acre Anna Bay property which backs onto the dunes. A day and place I will remember forever.”
The decor throughout the day was so utterly considered and utilised a lot of special pieces from the couple’s families, tells the bride. “We did all the styling – I collected cane furniture, Persian rugs and decor in the months leading up. We used Tyler’s & his dad’s old trucks for the bar set up too. I loved our bar! It was a hit with our guests and super unique.”
The bride chose “Slice Of Heaven” by Dave Dobbyn to play as she walked down the aisle with her parents. “We aren’t a very sentimental couple haha and wanted something fun and not overly emotional for me to walk down to. Mum and dad walked me down.”
Abbey & Tyler were married by friend Emily John. Abbey noting “We wanted a quick, casual, yet beautiful ceremony. One of my good friends Emily was our celebrant which made it even more perfect. She tailored everything perfectly to us. Our vows were loving but lighthearted, words which we will cherish forever.”
“If you’re stressing,” advises Abbey “pass the workload onto someone else or get some help! People are more than willing to help out a bride in need. The last thing you need to do is worry about the details.”
The newlyweds loved their choice of photographer, telling “Dan & Bek are the best! So amazing at what they do. They captured our day perfectly.”
Abbey cannot stop raving about her vendor dream team. “Honestly our vendors were all amazing. From our flowers, to hire furniture. Photographers, videographer, caterers. They all went above and beyond!
I have to applaud ourselves and my family for preparing for the day – it was a mammoth effort!”
And the night for these two, ended just so beautifully, hand in hand. Abbey tells “The way it ended at the end of the night was so surreal. All of our guests and family left by around 11 pm, Tyler and I went inside to mum and dad’s house, popped our casual clothes back on and proceed up the long driveway to catch our Uber. It was such a funny way to end the night – back to our normal selves after one of the biggest days of our lives.”
The icing on the wedding cake for these two? Their glorious film captured by Hendrikus Kreations.
A big congratulations to you both Abbey & Tyler! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Wolf & Wildflower for sharing today’s images!
