Happy Monday Dotties! Week two of lockdown for Melbourne and another week of opening up for the rest of the country, what bananas times we live in!

In different parts of Australia we’re at different stages of businesses being open – so in those states that aren’t yet as far advanced as others, please support our wedding vendors by booking them for your weddings in the years ahead. Have a look through the Polka Dot Directory to choose vendors who have done it tough but are still hanging in there to provide the professional services we know and love!

Our Polka Dot Directory has vendors such as Menswear, we have Catering, we have Flowers and Cinematography – we even have Photography and Venues.

Check out the Polka Dot Directory for wedding vendors who will love your wedding as much as you!

We asked Vanessa of The Wedding & Event Creators five questions in five minutes:

Weddings are the best to work on because….

There is such a great energy and buzz on wedding day! The vibes are always a great environment to be around, and if you are a personality that thrives on being put under pressure, then you will definitely love being a wedding planner!

What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?

It’s completely not glamorous! Unlike the movies, we are not in dresses and heels with headpieces, its more like running joggers and being absolutely in turn run off our feet. Being a wedding coordinator actually has a huge physical side to the job on the day and is actually a lot more then what most people would expect. We are up ladders, using mallets to hammer in arbours, screwing in lighting, tying on florals, on hands and knees cleaning dance floors, topping up toilet paper, its definitely not all fluff! Some days in 40 degree weather on a 15 hour day it can be very physically challenging.
What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?

I love being organised, so creatively for my role, checklists, ticking off the to do lists fufils me for sure! I also love when we are given a styling brief, guidance but also given some flexibility and control over styling ideas and layout, that is when the magic happens when our gorgeous clients allow us to have a bit of free reign!
What are you hilariously bad at?

Packing the van and truck! I am no tetris master by any means and it it takes a real skill to pack our vans and trucks for the weddings, it’s just not my forte and I can never get everything back in that came out of it!
When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?

I have always been a highly motivated and organised person, from a young age I definitely loved taking a high level of attention to detail when it came to family birthday parties, dinner parties with friends so I can see how this aspect of my personality brought me to where I am today!
