Let’s just all agree, that what we need right now? Stories of sunshine, beachside weddings where there is fresh air, hugs and kisses, and love – plenty of it. For Georgia and Matthew, who chose a destination Byron Bay wedding “It was a very relaxed fun and free-flowing party” admits Georgia, who planned the wedding to be a beachside holiday for the couple and their friends from their Melbourne home. “It was beachy and boho and not traditional”. These two invited Yellowbull Weddings along for the wedding, joining their family and friends in the utmost merriment.

Mutual friends brought these two together. “We met through our mutual friends who had started dating (each was in our wedding party) although there was instant attraction it wasn’t until we met up in Mykonos a little while later that we realised how much we liked each other and have spoken every day since then.”

The magic of the festive season led Matthew to pop the big question. “I got a big surprise” remembers Georgia. “It was Christmas Eve and we’d had a relatively normal day not a hint at all that a proposal might come. I had visited my bestie around the corner and when I got home I noticed my pug (Taco) who doesn’t wear a collar had something around her neck. I almost dismissed it then Matt said what’s it say. I went down and looked and in a collar was the engagement ring and written on the collar was ‘will you marry me’. Later that evening both our families and closest friends came over and we had champagne and celebrated.”

Georgia donned a Made With Love gown from Bluebelle Bridal. “It was the first dress I tried on shopping with my mum and I loved it” she remembers. “I didn’t love wedding shopping so was glad it was the first! I wore my maid of honour’s veil which blew off mid-ceremony and about three times whilst trying to walk down the aisle so that stayed off for the rest of the wedding.”

Georgia & Matthew opted for the one venue, Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club, for their wedding. The bride explaining, “We had our ceremony and wedding all in the one spot so as soon as the ceremony was done we could get straight to the reception. We loved the Byron Bay Surf Club as it was in the heart of Byron Bay on the main beach. It was a blank canvas and beautifully styled by Byron Bay Weddings. We booked our entire wedding without ever going to the surf club or up to Byron Bay.”

To pull together their day, Georgia and Matthew hired wedding planners Byron Bay Weddings. Says Georgia “I didn’t love wedding planning haha and so was amazing to have the help of Byron Bay Weddings; I didn’t care much for the particulars and they took care of that.”

Georgia walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to The Beatles “Here Comes The Sun”.

Georgia and Matthew chose Sweet Wonderful You to officiate their ceremony, sharing “Our celebrant sweet wonderful you – Erin McMahon is also our friend and is the best in the business. She made our ceremony so relaxed and happy. Just the right amount of serious and the rest happy relaxed and not too long. We wrote our vows and my sister read “I want to grow old with you” by Adam Sandler.”

The couple were beyond thrilled with their choice of a photographer. “Yellowbull are amazing; they put us at ease were great fun and matched our relaxed vibe they captured the day brilliantly and we couldn’t love our wedding highlight video more.”

“There are photos of Matt and I dancing and laughing on the beach which we almost didn’t get” says Georgia of her favourite shots of the day. “Our photographers Yellowbull (who are amazing) tapped us on the shoulder during dinner and we almost didn’t go but it turns out all our sunset photos on the beach are our absolute favourites and are our most special from the day.”

Wedding planners Byron Bay Weddings pulled together the reception styling, Georgia remarking “We used Byron Bay Weddings who helped us throughout the whole wedding. Very sadly Fig tree Restaurant which is Byron Bay Wedding’s venue, office & catering business burnt down two nights before our wedding so we lost a few styling pieces but the team handled it brilliantly and we were much luckier than those who were booked at that venue.”

Georgia & Matthew made their dance floor debut to “Slow Dance” by Angie McMahon.

Georgia and Matthew’s favourite memory of the day? “Dancing the night away (including a cheeky visit on the way home trip to Cheeky Monkeys Bar with our closest friends).”

Not only did these two choose Yellowbull Weddings to capture the photographs of their day, but the team also captured this beautiful film!

A big congratulations to the newlyweds! Thank you for sharing your day with us. Thank you also to Yellowbull Weddings for sharing today’s beautiful imagery and film!
