Nyiera & Lachlan

Hope you’ve got your glad rags on because today’s relaxed summer wedding, captured beautifully by Courtney of With Love From Near + Far is going to fill you with all the excitement you need for post COVID celebrations.

Nyiera & Lachlan planned a day, that was, in the bride’s word’s “was all things that we both are.” And that? That’s a celebration that is “Colourful, fun, laidback, relaxed with so much love in the air.” And this summer wedding could not be any more full of love – from the bride wearing her mother’s wedding gown as she walked down the aisle, to her surprise (and impressive!) change of look, to the amazing cars that delivered her to the ceremony, and the details that all culminated in the most delightful summer’s night.

The pair first met on a night out. “We met at a really old, far from romantic club on a Friday night. One of those really random nights that you just let it take you where ever.”

It seems quite apt that these two tied the knot in summer because much of their story has played out in the heat – including their proposal! The bride telling the tale “We were with friends and family at Nyiera’s parent’s beach house in Portarlington. We had just put our little five-month-old to bed and were on the beach counting down when the fireworks started Lachlan was on one knee!”

Nyiera’s ceremony gown? It was her mums! She tells “I had two wedding dresses. The first was my mums! The most beautiful gown that I was able to recreate into something that was me yet still hold so much meaning. I kept the skirt original and had the top completely redesigned”

“Nyiera had (almost all) her best friends as bridesmaids. “Five of the most gorgeous, loving and caring cousin & friends a gal could have. They were, Eden, Hannah, Shahn, Amy & my Lee Lee! They all wore black (gowns from City ChicSheike, Forever New and  Showpo). I wanted them to chose something they loved and something they could wear again and most importantly something that they felt comfortable in.”

The wedding party travelled in the bride’s father’s two beautiful Chevrolet cars.

Nyiera and Lachlan chose the bride’s brother’s backyard in Little River for their ceremony.

Nyiera walked down the aisle accompanied by both of her parents  to an acoustic version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”.

Jessie Belle officiated the ceremony, the bride noting “We wanted our ceremony to be laid back, calm and peaceful. We wanted love to be in the air and also for it to be light-hearted and fun.”

This was a wedding that honoured family, Nyiera and Lachlan including a special reading, that the bride’s parents included on their own day. “I actually found my parent’s wedding ceremony booklet in the lead up to our wedding and on the very last page was a little reading that was so beautiful and fitting for our day.
It was all the little things, like finding their booklet and having that reading on our day that made it the most magical, special day to us.”

Nyiera found the bouquets at Gather Store. “I wanted something that I could keep forever without losing their colour. I’m not traditional in the slightest so wanted something super different, vibrant and fun. I chose all flowers for the girls and guys from a cute shop in Currumbin called Gather Store. I could not fault them. Every bouquet was gorgeous as were the boy’s boutonnières.

“We dressed the boys according to the weather” remarks Nyiera of the groom and groomsmen’s summer wedding style. “I feel there’s nothing worse than suit pants/ jacket on a hot day! White long sleeve shirt (sleeves folded up) black suit shorts, suspenders, dried flower buttonholes and rad bow ties from Peggy & Finn.”

After the ceremony, Nyiera changed into a stunning black floor-length gown. She tells “My night time gown was everything. Even though my ceremony gown was “me”, there is nothing more me than black! I was so comfortable in it and truly felt like myself as soon as I put it on (in a beach car park between photos!)”

“Enjoy every single moment” advises Nyiera. “Believe everyone when they tell you that your day will fly by. And make YOUR day 110% you!”

As the sunset, the celebration began at The Views Function Bar & Grill.  “Boy, did we get a view that night” laughs Nyiera.

Of the couple’s chosen photographer, Nyiera raves “I feel whatever I say about Courtney won’t even do her amazingness justice. She is boss! I was seriously such an unprepared bride. Courtney not only took amazing photos and captured our day in the most amazing way possible but she was so good with working with us on the day with telling what was happening and when. She went with the flow with us on this one. We couldn’t recommend her more!”

One of Nyiera’s favourite memories? “Having our gorgeous children a part of our day & finally joining my babies and now husband and becoming a ‘Cullen’.”

“We loved the fun that everyone had celebrating with us” remembers Nyiera, “It was honestly the best party we have ever thrown and we are so proud of ourselves for it.”

The newlyweds dance floor debut? Sung by Lachlan’s cousin!  “What better way to enjoy our first dance than for Lachlan’s beautiful cousin‘s to stand in front of everyone and sing ‘I won’t give up’ by Jason Mraz. Did I mention they organised a mini flash mob?. Well yeah, they totally did and it was so wonderful. We have never been so happy and in awe.”

A big congratulations to you both Nyiera and Lachlan! What a joy it was to be able to share your wedding. Thank you both and thank you to With Love From Near + Far for sharing today’s stunning wedding!
