The Elopement Issue is all about inspiring you with all the different ways, the different journeys you can take to your elopement. Today’s styled shoot, a collaboration between photographer Jaz Anderson of In the Mood for Love and stylist Minty Mary Pea, inspired Jaz to create a romantic, wintery elopement editorial from the way COVID-19 flipped weddings on their head. She shares “I like elopements and the way they allow intimacy and space for personality on one of the most important days for a couple. I wanted to explore that through this shoot by reflecting on how a couple might be if all the outside distractions involved in a wedding were stripped back to bring all focus on them and their connection.

This editorial, for Jaz, was all about collaborating with a team of vendors who embodied Jaz’s own ideals of what an elopement should be. “After catching up with Laura of Minty Mary Pea Events over a coffee I not only knew she had to style this but I was so excited to have her on board. She loves elopements, her personality and positivity are so easy to get along with and her professionalism and experience meant she was an absolute breeze to plan this with (even last minute).”

The duo was joined by models Kiarra Jeromin and Diamant Mata. Kiarra donning lace long sleeve gown from Nasreen Jawad with hair and makeup styled by Bianca Sumampow. “The designer Nasreen Jawad grew up in Kuwait, Afghanistan but Adelaide has been her home for many years now” explains Jaz. “I visited Nasreen Jawad in her studio which is full of gorgeous fabrics, in particular, my favourite lace. She is a self-made designer and if I had to use one word to describe her style it would be “dreamy”. I love her style and admire her journey – and her Riona French Dress was one of the first sources of inspiration that began putting this concept together.”

Photographer Alejandro Carriel added her skills as a second shooter, while Brey Fuentes Films captured it all on film (scroll down for that one). Gooseberry Hill Farm created a beautiful bouquet, from fresh blooms from their sustainable organic flower farm located in outer Adelaide. “I worked with Anna on this and she was amazing,” notes Jaz.

The day started on a cold winter’s day, with our couple dressing together at The Cremorne Street Coach House and then, once the sun had set, wandering to beautiful city venue The Jade where Elise Mae Events officiated their “Ceremony” before they dined on a delicious feast, lit only by candlelight to celebrate their new beginning (hello romantic!).

Says Jaz “The idea of eloping is growing in popularity, especially due to the unpredictability of planning events at the moment. And, this is really awesome because there is a lot of positivity in eloping. For example, four key factors that stick out in my mind are they tend to be more personalised, nicer on the finances, less stressful and more sustainable. These factors align with my personal and business ideals so I am continually looking for ways to communicate them in my work.”
