Our roving reporter Ms Lace was dispatched to Coffs Harbour this month, as a guest of Coffs Coast Marketing, for the Coffs Harbour “famil” – a familiarisation of Coffs Harbour and what it has to offer as a wedding location. Here are a few of her happy snaps with posts to follow on Polka Dot Wisdom in the coming weeks!

I feel like my May is always huge, not just oh there’s a lot going on, but life changing huge. So huge in fact that I think my office pics of the month deserve a little ditty…

♪ Slow burning fires, sunsets and tree leaves… ♫

♫ Fun lights and cookies and media mentions (Thanks Herald Sun!)… ♪

♪♪ A last minute dash and some help from mini Ms Gingham, tea and a shot the night before our first television appearance (these are a few of my favourite things)… ♫♫

♫ Kale blooms and yellow and white flowers, quick prayers to the sky for paint drying powers… ♪

♫ Big city views and handmade treasures. Favors and table numbers and guilty pleasures… ♫

♪ Ms Gingham rocking our tutorials without any second takes, studio lights and long filming breaks (these are a few of my favourite things)… ♫

♫ When the clouds come and the cold brews and I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favourite things (mail- Elizabeth Messina’s “Lumonous Portrait”, some special treats for the groom, Amy Atlas’ “Sweet Designs”, a media pass to “One Fine Day”…

(Cake! from Mr P’s work celebration, Mother’s Day blooms, impromptu Thai food and the beautiful Once Wed magazine)… ♫

Cafes playing black and white film on their walls, amazing coffees and cake… ♫

♫ Book stores and magazine culls and our first ever lemon harvest….

and then I don’t feel… so… baaaaaad!♫

May has been all about the garden! My beatiful lillies have bloomed with their vivid orange flowers and I’m quite taken by this sweet succulent. Winter brings out the best sometimes!

Ms Gingham

This month saw me going in to hospital to repair an umbilical hernia which on the downside left me sore and unable to do much and on the upside left me sore and unable to do much! Goodbye school pickups and hello couch. The kids were not impressed but I did end up getting some lovely flowers and choccies for a “get well” present which they were not allowed to eat! Ha!

During the time I wasn’t recuperating though, I spotted some lovely umbrellas and a truly fabulous vintage Combi van, ate some amazing sweets at Chez Dre in South Melbourne, observed ducklings hatching in Master Gingham’s prep class and welcomed a gorgeous little dog named Coco as a house guest. Oh and shot a little segment for TV… phew!

Busy with an increasingly grown up bubba – she turned 6 months on the 22nd! She sits! She eats! She delights on a daily basis!

Other things I got up to? Started pilates classes, which I am loving! It burns, but in a good way! Eating southern style BBQ from Big Boy BBQ for my husband’s birthday. I’m not really the passionate meat lover, but even I loved their ribs!

And buying a new dining table which I’m kind of unhealthily obsessed with.

Ms Floral

This month I have been a shop-a-holic! Mr Floral and I are renovating so I’ve been picking out paint colours, tiles, and more excitingly… new furniture! I’ve also been trawling through Etsy to find vintage-inspired knick-knacks, cushions and art to brighten up our home. Besides that, I’ve been drinking lots of tea to keep warm, watching The Block, catching up with old friends and attending cool events like the One Fine Day bridal expo – keep your peepers peeled for my review, coming soon!
