Ellie & Tim
There is a beautiful feeling to the beachside Sydney wedding of Ellie and Tim. The day starts with a sunshine filled first look, a ceremony in the garden of a beautiful beach side restaurant before canapes and celebrations began in earnest. Pictures & Hearts were there to capture every smile and hug.
Ellie tells the story of special Friday night. “We met out one night at Friday night drinks with my work colleagues who Tim went to school with. After some brief chats and knowing only my first name and where I worked, Tim’s advanced Googling skills meant that the following Tuesday I was responding to an email with a request for my “legal expertise”.”
The groom wore a cream coloured suit he had made at Yaly Couture, Vietnam.
Jennifer Regan created Ellie’s gown, Ellie tells, “The dress was custom made by designer Jennifer Regan in Newtown. I wanted something very specific that was simple, elegant and matched the wedding style. Jennifer adapted one of her designs to exactly what I wanted and the whole experience was really enjoyable and easy. She was a dream to work with. My mum who is very talented made our flower halos – they were stunning!”
The couple met before the ceremony, Tim explaining, “We had “first look” photos at Shelly Beach in Manly. This was awesome. I got to see Ellie in her dress and hug her prior to the ceremony. This way I wasn’t utterly overwhelmed as she walked up the aisle so I could enjoy the moment and admire her beauty.”
Ellie’s bridesmaids were given a brief of “neutral coloured, short dresses” and all chose their own outfits for the day.
Cupid Wedding Cars transported the bridal party in Kombi vans.
Ellie and Tim were married at Pilu Restaurant, holding their ceremony in the beach side garden before dining in the restaurant. They tell, “We chose Pilu because it offered the best of everything we wanted – a beautiful beach backdrop, amazing food, the ceremony onsite which meant that we didn’t have to shuffle guests from the ceremony to reception. The interior suited us perfectly because it was big enough to fit 100 people but still felt very intimate and special.”
Ellie walked down the aisle to “Cavatina” played on acoustic Spanish style guitar by Guitarist ‘Carlos’ of South Beat Entertainment.
Jan Littlejohn, Ceremonies with Style officiated the ceremony, the newlyweds remembering, “The ceremony was held outdoors in Pilu’s garden. It was beautiful and simple and we were so lucky with the weather. We had the beach and setting sun in the background while our family and friends (some seated and others standing) watched on. It was very short, only 30 minutes and suited us perfectly. We wrote our own vows.”
The bride’s aunt and cousin, who traveled internationally to attend the wedding set out a Persian Sofreh during cocktail hour. Ellie notes, “The Persian Sofreh was very special. It’s a traditional spread with symbolic pieces laid out in front of the bride and group which includes a large mirror reflecting the new future of the couple.”
Of their photographer, Ellie and Tim note, “We chose to go with Pictures and Hearts who were amazing from the moment we got in touch with them. The photos turned out so beautiful. The day goes by so quickly that the photos essentially capture the memories better than we could!”
Ellie wanted to make sure the reception felt like a reflection of what she and Tim love, she tells, “I wanted very specific looking napkins so I prearranged picking up 100 napkins from Pilu and using twine, and natural dried transparent leaves (store bought) I tied each guest’s wooden name tag to the napkins. I also purchased all the glassware for the table flowers and my mother, maid of honour and I prepared the flowers. We had our friends Sophie and Marie set out the flowers before the guests arrived.”
One of Ellie’s favourite parts of the day was her maid of honour’s speech, she tells, “My maid of honour Gemma, gave the greatest speech which coined the phrase “Tim redefined the checklist” referring to my checklist of what I wanted in a partner before meeting Tim.”
Of their first dance, Ellie and Tim tell, “Our first dance was fun! We chose a non traditional song “You and Me” by Disclosure, remixed by Flume. We only practiced the morning of our wedding and chose to choreograph the first part of the song then free dance and invite the bridal party to join us.” Above and Beyond DJs kept the dance floor moving all night.
