What is your favourite wedding theme?

I love classic garden weddings, out doors with a big marquee that’s covered in bunting and fairy lights; the kind you see on movie sets in the 1950’s like ‘High Society’ and ‘Father of the Bride’ with Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.

What inspires you?

The bride. I love sitting down with a new bride and have them show me their ideas and tell me about the style of their wedding and getting what they are about and then designing their dress around that.

What is special about weddings to you?

The celebration of two people who love each other; nothing beats the sight of the bride and groom looking at each other before the ceremony begins – so sweet and nervous and innocent.

What do you love about couture and design?

The freedom of not having to be practical, using luxurious fabrics  and creating something for the client that is intrinsically “them” and made especially for them.

What is your favourite image of all time?

This image of Anna and Ben taken by Petal Photography; it is so sweet and intimate!

What book are you reading at the moment?

‘The Picture of Dorian Grey’ by Oscar Wilde.

What is your Number 1 tip for brides and grooms?

Wear comfortable underwear! It’s a long day so be practical about this, leave the fancy stuff for the honeymoon suite after. Trust me!

What is the one tool of your that you can’t live without?

My sketch pad and pencil.

What is your resolution for this year?

To make resolutions! Haha! I have enough good pressure with my work without added extra ones!

What are you excited about right now?

Coming into the cooler months we slow down a little, so it will give me time to start thinking about our spring brides and the next collection for 2017.

What is a special personal talent you possess?

I can drink far too much coffee and still fall asleep when needed. And I’m not too shabby in the kitchen.

Where is your favourite place to escape to for downtime and why?

My sofa with a massive pile of fashion, design and art books and magazines to read and pour over! I’m really blessed to have a career that I don’t want to take a break from; even if I am tired I still love looking at beautiful things, and thinking about gowns I can create.

Ms Chinoiserie Says: Working with luxurious and beautiful fabrics, how special it is for you to be able to create stunning gowns for each of your brides!

About Daniel Learmont Couture: One of the earliest influences in my life was my grandmother who was always busying herself with some kind of sewing or craft project. I have always been a fan of 50’s and 60’s Hollywood, the jet set life style. I love the kind of clean, dramatic glamour of the period with its strong silhouettes in luxurious fabrics like silk shantung, brocade, duchess satin and Chantilly lace.
